missypie - Thanks for explaining. It is kind of wasteful to have to replace everything each year. I guess some of the stuff ends up supplementing the school's supplies. I know the teachers get next to nothing in the way of money for supplies for their classrooms.
JMHO but I think its ridiculous for teachers to require specific brands of items especially if they aren't widely available. Let kids use their imagination, buy colors and styles they like as long as the items meet the functional needs of the class. DD's list even specified required colors for various items. Come on - focus on learning, not what color her pencil box is.
