Who else is leaving a beloved pet behind?

We left our dog (Muffy) and cat (Kaht) for the first time last May when we went to Disney. We were so sad, but not Muffy or Kaht! They were going to visit their friends at the Vet. Our vet boards animals, which is great because everyone there knows our two babies and I know they will get lots of love and attention.

Muffy is our 2-year-old border collie mix and she just loves to play and eat (loves cookies!) and is very happy with anyone who has cookies to give her or even just some lovin'. :dogdance:

Kaht (pronounced "cat") has only lived with us for 2 of his 15 years, but he doesn't mind being at the vets (well, as long as they don't stick anything up his butt that is). :rotfl2: He was a stray my parents "adopted" when he was a kitten. He used to belong to the neighbors but since they abused him, my mom took him in and even though he was strictly an outdoor cat he never left my parents' yard. Then the neighbors moved and left him, so he really became my parents' cat. Then when my mom passed and we sold my dad's house and he moved in with us...well, Kaht was definitely coming home with us! There was no way I was leaving him behind! Now he's strictly an indoor cat, he adjusted very quickly to being an indoor cat! And he's no longer my dad's cat, he's mine! :cat:

I've already made reservations for them at the vet's when we go back to WDW in December. I'd love to take them with us, but I know they wouldn't have as much fun as they do at our vet's.

I am leaving 3 kitties at home! My brother will be checking in on them, but I feel bad because we'll be gone for 10 days!!!

I'm worried sick about leaving him for 16 days! He is such a Mummy's boy. He too look out the windwo whe nwe leave. It is heart breaking. Last year when we went to disney. He got a disney collar, mickey charm for his collar, disney doggie biscuits and a doggie bandana that said " My humans went to Disney and all they bought me was this lousy Bandana"

Think I'll get him a t-shirt this time!

snickers my chocolate lab and india a doberman go to the kennels. Peaches and binxy my cats stay home and get watched. They were from a shelter and it upsets them to be in kennels and i don't want them traumatized so they get home treatment the dogs don't mind the kennels.

We hate leaving our "kids" at home too. :guilty:

Our two shepherds (2 yr & 5 yr) head out to the farm to visit with Grandma and all their friends (Grandma breeds Shar-Peis so there are always puppies around to keep them busy - they're both very good babysitters). Although they do get those sad puppy eyes when we drop them off, by the time we're out of the driveway they are bouncing around the yard playing with the others. My mom stays with our 10 yr old Shepherd/Husky cross and our 4 ferrets.

It's always hard for us to leave them, even more so for 2 weeks, but once we've returned home and everyone is back together we're forgiven fairly quickly - especially when they realize we brought back a little something from WDW for them.

I completely understand! DH & I have 2 yorkies. The male especially is a momma's boy. When we vacation they get boarded at our vet and although its really hard to leave them, I know they are getting lots of love there. I think they appreciate us more when we get home!

I know how hard it is to leave your baby! We have a ten year old Shi-poo who is diabetic and must have insulin shots twice a day. She loves the kennel she goes to and I send cans of chicken with her , just to make sure she will eat (no wonder she loves the kennel, 'cause she doesn't get cans of chicken at home!!)

I totally understand. We are leaving behind our beloved chihuahua Elvis. We have also made arrangements for my dad to take care of him. I know he will be withdrawn without us. he loves my parents but he absolutely lives for us. He sleeps across my feet every night. His face is the first one I see every morning before I get up for work then my husband's. (the dog makes sure he is between us anytime he can) Hope you have fun. We leave in 10 days. I'm sure we'll both be alright.Just a tip in downtown Disney they have an awesome one of a kind store with all kinds of gifts and treats for pets. Just don't do like me and feel guilty and spend way to much...... :sad2:  :dogdance: :dog: :dog2:
