In 9 days, ,my family and I will be leaving to WDW. Unfortunately, we can't take our Yorkie with us. :sad1: I have already made arrangements with my Dad to watch and take care of him while we are gone but I feel like I am leaving my child behind. :guilty: Does anyone here share the same sentiments with their pet?

We leave in 3 days for our first long trip away from our kitties. They're just over a year old. We have someone we know coming over to check on them and to feed them, but I hate leaving them. They're just like having kids for us.

Yes I do share this feeling with you. we are leaving in 12 days and will be gone for 7 days I will also be leaving our german shephard with my dad. I am so worried about her; she is my baby. We have never left her for more then a few hours at a time. I am hoping she eats and isn't upset with us when we get back.

Yep, I will be. DW and I have a 3-year old Cocker Spaniel :dog: , and she gives us the most pathetically sad looks when we go anywhere with out her. Luckily, DW's parents will be taking her when we go next year. She already has sleepovers there a couple times a month for 2-3 days, so she's used to it. I could never, ever leave her at a kennel for a week. It would break my heart.

We are leaving our Todby behind but dad will be with him. We are lucky that if dad isn't home we have a neighbor who watches him. I know he is happy to see us.

He is acting very strange, won't leave me alone. I finally figured out it is because I have our suitcases out and he gets nervouse thinking he will be left.

We usually go to WDW twice a year and it's hard leaving Tucker (wonderful Golden Retriever) home with the house sitter.

That's my only PET peeve with Disney is that they don't allow pets. Then again, I don't want puppy, cat, ferret, bird extrements around. (That would be a whole Board in itself - the Pet Peeve Board).

I feel the same way whenever we have to leave our little puggie pug: Sometimes I have no choice but to board her at the kennel...I hate to, but she always runs right off with the girl and never looks back...but we are always glad to see her when we return. I know some people just think we're crazy...we are crazy about our pet. She is our third "child". ;)

DD will pop in with her 2 cousins at midnight fri and leave sun at 530, better than nothing.Ds20 will watch dog : yea when he's home. I told him I would pay him to stay home fri sat and sun. I said please come back and check him every few hours ? sure he will. DD23 will watch him but she goes to work 8 am till home about 6 . and she leaves the house fri at 6 Pm for the plane.I am already giving orders. today my son says your not leaving for 9 days. I will post notes all over. we also have to hide the suitcases. I told DD she better hide hers from him. he climbs inside them and cries .we have no one to watch him excect ourselves. in july I rented my DVC and stayed at universal and took him he loved it and so did we,but with the free dining and halloween party I wanted to go and stay at disney but now I am so sad. thurs fri and sat we go to our jersey shore in widlwood irish weekend. we rented a condo and we take him so it's like we will show him some fun then leave him. crazy I know

We are too leaving my sweet adorable baby, He is 3 whole pounds I haven't been without him but for your typical school day, And even then I kiss him and cuddle him, like it was a month apart. I am really sad about it, and have had to pick the best person for the job. Then I fear what if he gets locked out of my house and can't get in for a the remainder of the time or what if the house catches fire??? See I am paranoid, LOL :sad1:

Yes, yes, yes! We miss our kitties so much when we are gone!!! We went on about 8 trips to WDW last year and felt so bad after the 7th, that we got another cat (Stitch) to keep our single cat (Motor) company while we are gone! Now we miss them both!

Sometimes we are so tempted to stay at a Universal resort so we can bring our cats, but it just isn't close enough for us. Plus we've always felt like they would be more comfortable at home in familiar surroundings than on the road with us in a strange hotel room.

Luckily we a have a neighbor that loves the kitties and they love her, so she watches them while we are gone. We're so lucky to have her.

DH is dying to get a Class C camper so we can bring them along to camp with us at Fort Wilderness!

Did my dog put you up to this? Is this suppose to cause guilt? :rotfl2:

I hate leaving my dog at the kennel. She is a gorgeous German Shepherd who is completely devoted to me. She doesn't talk to me for days after she comes home. She never gets used to the boarding concept. I have guilt, guilt, guilt. The 3 guinea pigs handle it much better. They talk to me again after 2 days. I wish I could stop going on vacation --- no I don't. I wish, I could go without the guilt.

It's very hard. They are loyal and loving and we are selfish humans that need our vacations. Wow I feel so much better now. :sad2:

I never leave my Yorkie, Gizmo for than 2 hours at a time either. If I can take him anywhere with me I will. I have even gone as far as sneaking him into the subway trains. ;) He is my baby!!!!

I know he will be fine and well taken care of. I'm gonna miss him for those days we are gone.

Wehave a Yorkie too that is our baby. I hate to leave him, and our Cocker Spaniel, but they go to the "spa" as we call it....our vet...... pampered care, but I still hate it. I dread having to say goodbye for days before we leave. I have a stuffed one that I take with me when I can't take Scooter. I guess that goes to show that it's more my problem than his!!

Oh man... do we ever! Our three dogs love the kennel (aka "Puppy Prison Camp") but as soon as we leave the quiet in the car is almost always too much for us.

We're leaving for two weeks next month and we're dreading this trip because of our pets... or at least one of them. In October of last year I planned a trip to WDW to propose to my then-girlfriend. The week before the trip our boxer, Charlie, got very ill and had a stroke. He spent two days in the vet ICU and another three days at home hooked up to an IV pump. I slept on the kitchen floor with him so I could keep an eye on him and give him his shots/change his IV bag. We rescued him in Feb. of last year and found out pretty quickly that his poor little heart is in bad shape. The vet gave him six months to live at that point, so the stroke in October was almost six months to the day that news was broken to us.

He's doing well now and, in fact, is healthier than when we rescued him. We've put him in the kennel for long weekends with no problems (lots of guilt though), but this upcoming trip and the anniversary of last year's crisis are looming large. :guilty:

When I was gone over the summer I would call to talk to DH. He would put the phone up by our kitties and they would start purring. We plan on calling when we're at WDW. The kitties always come running when they hear the phone ring, so we'll just leave a message for them to "listen" to. Don't want them to think we forgot about them.

We have an adorable 3 yr. old mini-pin. :lovestruc We used to have an RV & stayed at FW. We ended up selling it, because we couldn't use it often enough. Without frequent use, they fall apart quickly. Now, we stay at Universal instead. Their resorts are very pet friendly, & are deluxe hotels. You definitely don't see pet waste everywhere. WDW doesn't seem open to the possibility of providing pet friendly accommodations. If they won't allow Swan & Dolphin to accept pets, & won't accept them in FW cabins, it seems unlikely they ever will. Not being able to stay onsite at WDW means we rarely go there anymore. Before we got Molly, we always bought APs & went at least 4 or 5 times a year. Although we miss WDW (or at least I do), we'll continue to stay at UO & visit their parks. :)

We had to leave our 4 kitties last January. I asked my niece to come by and feed and play with them, with my neighbor as a back up. They are 9 and 10 years old, and have never been left with all of us gone before, so I felt terrible. We are going again in January, and this time I don't know if my DN can come by every day, so I am already starting to worry.

When we went, we had to leave our doggies in boarding. We found a place that would let them board together in these little rooms with a bed for them to sleep on, and during the day they could come out and romp with the other dogs in a big play-yard. Despite the nnice accomodations, it was our first time leaving them someplace other than my MIL, and was the longest trip away from them (10 days), and it was hard!

They do let you call in as often as you want for a report, and if you like, you can have them bring your dog to the phone to "talk" to them, which we didn't feel the need to do. But we did call and ask after them and heard they were doing well, eating right, etc. and that put our heart at ease.

We are just about to board them again for a long weekend while we go to my sister in law's wedding in CA. I hate leaving them! They are my babies! Truly my children at heart!
