Who else is freaking out their spouse is going to accidentally order the $5,000 cocktail in Hyperspace Lounge on the Wish?

Thinking about this, not sure I would be freaking out if my spouse ordered a $5,000 cocktail. I DID freak out a little when she booked our Disney cruise, and it was a lot more than that cocktail!

You could say the same thing about Remy, Victoria and Alberts, any sort of dining experience. Why spend so much money on something impermanent? Because you get the memory. It might seem stupid and extravagant to you (and me), but someone ordering the 5k cocktail is definitely going to remember that for the rest of their life!

I just can’t imagine any scenario in which I plonk down $5,000 for drink and walk away saying “totally worth it”. I love bourbon, and once got to try a $400 glass of a rare much-lauded bourbon. I wasn’t paying, but I remember thinking, this is tasty but it really isn’t meaningfully better than a very nice $30 per glass bourbon. I just mentally can’t get my head around what could possibly justify that price for a drink.

Curious why this keeps being referred to as drink when it's really about gaining access to Sky Walker Ranch and all of the extra benefits that come with it. For a Star Wars fan that may be more than worth it. There were three offered on the christening cruise and they sold out the first night of the cruise...

I can’t either but there are people out there with a LOT of money. Mega millionaires. These are the people who spend $40-50k for a suite and well what the heck, let’s keep that suite for a B2B over the holidays and do the Eastern AND Western, make it really fun for the kids. They hire a private jet bc MCO and commercial airline crowds are just not worth the headache. .
People with several multi-million dollar homes.
Those of us regular middle class peeps can’t even fathom it all but it’s there and Disney knows how to cater to those people too.

You can actually join Skywalker’s wine club for much much cheaper than that (I’m a member) and then you’re able to visit the ranch.

Whaaaaaaat?! Totally just stopped what I was doing to go sign up for that! I had no idea that was a thing . . .

You will not find Pete ordering any alcoholic drinks. He has been sober for years. More likely buy it for someone on his team to try.

Yeah, sorry that’s kind of what I meant. Should have phrased it as will Pete PAY for it just so we can see what the big mystery is.

He doesn't drink though and I don't see him paying that much for his staff to try it. With that being said, they carry very expensive liquors onboard so $5k doesn't surprise me

Well Pete bought the $5,000 drink.

So, that was interesting... wonder what the rest of the experience is-- some escort off the ship or something?

Also, have been reading that it's hard to get into the Hyperspace Lounge, but it looked practically empty during the video. ??

I respect he doesn't drink, but at the very least he could have brought Ryno and Craig along. Noone at the table seemed to enjoy the drinks!

I am not justifying the price, but apparently - along with the drink itself (which I read is actually 3 drinks) - there is an "experience" Storm Troopers and maybe something else involved.
Yep - from what I read, the drink is only an afterthought. Purchasing the drink is actually purchasing a day-long guided tour experience/behind-the-scenes visit at Skywalker Ranch.

They’re geniuses to offer stuff like this for sale. You know why? Social Media. People will happily plunk down big sums for stupid stuff because it makes good content. It’s basically a business expense for them. Even if they’re not well known, people will do stuff like this so they can look like a big shot on Instagram for their 17 followers. And it generates buzz.for DCL, like it or not.

Sure some people will clutch their pearls and say they're catering to the rich and it's disgusting but everything has trade offs. By the way all of DCL is basically for the rich. Yeah I know, "Pssssh, we're hardly rich!" Everyone thinks the rich line starts just above how ever much money they have lol. Because there's no way to admit it without sounding like a jerk.

A DCL cruise itself is something most people will never be able to afford. Plenty of people consider any luxury vacation disgusting wasteful consumption. I say live and let live.
