We're going to the new Nick Hotel June 28-30 before we move over to Disney. My kids are super excited, and to be honest so am I. We booked a 2 bedroom kidsuite and requested bunk beds and SpongeBob. THe pools look cool and so do the activities. When are you going? I'm hoping some DIssers will be there after it's finished and before we arrive so I can a first hand report. Let me know who else is going. Thanks :Pinkbounc :cheer2:

there were a couple of other people who were trying it - I am moving this up so maybe they will see it.

We are looking forward to it. Our trip is in August. We will be staying at HIFS before heading over to WDW. We stayed at HIFS two years ago and had a great time. I only hope the quality of the food service has improved with the changes. I thought it pretty poor during that visit, and I won't miss the fact there is no free breakfast included with the room rate, if the food quality remains poor.

We've never stayed there before. We are definitely "onsite" Disney people, but the kids couldn't resist the lure of Nickleodeon. I know that they had a free breakfast program that they discontinued, but I believe that the kids eat free (except character meals).

I am so excited to try it. I am booking the last 4 days of our trip in May. I wanted to stay on site for our first 4 days with our park hoppers, and relax and wind down at the new hotel. But by the looks of it there will plenty to do. So I think the idea to wind down is out of the question. I just got our brochure now my DP is just as excited as I am. :rotfl:

How long did it take you to get your borchure - I requested one about a week ago and still haven't received it. The kids will love looking at it.

We are excited too. We are driving down in June from Massachusetts and spending 2 nights before we check into the boardwalk for the week. I thought this would be a good place for DH to relax and catch up on sleep. This way me & DD who will be 7 at that time can check out the activities while he's resting. We did stay there a couple years ago after our Disney fix and didn't leave the property once. We had so much fun so I'm anticipating this will be even better.

The Holiday Inn Family fun Suites located near 535 and 536 does include free breakfast buffet with the room rate!
It is every morning until 11 am. Each day varies a little. Pancakes, scrambled eggs, bacon, fruit, yogurts, hash browns, toast, bagels. Orange Juices, apple juice, milk, coffee, tea.

The next day there might be French toast, cereals, oatmeal, grits, sausage, applesauce, donuts, toast, English muffins, and all the beverages named above.

After 11 am there is also a buffet however it is not free but 4 kids eat free with each paying adult.
There is also a Pizza Hut and a little grocery store that you can pick a few things up at.
The food is not bad and the buffets have been hot and well stocked.

The hotel is not quite finished being renovated however, they hope to be done by June. The rooms (suites) come with a King sized bed in one room with a set of bunks in another as well as a little cot that pulls out from behind a small wall. There is also a sleeper sofa in the Living room. A sink, small microwave and mini fridge in a kitchenette like area completes the room.

3 TVs, along with a playstation2 in each Kids Suite (you can rent games downstairs)
The suites are Sponge Bob,some others have Rugrats, Dora, Fairly Odd Parents, etc.
The pool near buildings 1-9 is open the other is closed through May. The pool that is open is done very cute with Dora and all the characters from Nick. Pools are heated as well.
Parking is a little crazy right now as there are building dumpsters here and there taking up spaces, as well as construction crews trucks. (they work late and start early as well LOL)

We'll be there in May too! Can't wait!! We'll be onsite at Disney for our first 4 nights, then on a Disney cruise, and when we return from the cruise we'll stay for 2 nights at the Nick hotel!

I didn't know we could request which character room we wanted!!! I'll have to check into that...and, order a brochure! It sounds great!!

I think I read that the morning free breakfast ends in March...but, then they'll be having Character breakfasts!! I hope those will have started by the time we get there!!

It took maybe a week to get my brochure. But I called and spoke to a CSR, opposed to ordering it online. Maybe that makes the diffrence?
Does anyone know when the character breakfasts start and who they will be with?

Reflection- we went there last year and the food was soooooooo bad. We loved the hotel and the pools. Everything on the website looks great. They spent a lot of money redoing that hotel. They must have improved the food.

Tara--I certainly hope that is the case. You're right, though, the food was bas--"super yucky," to quote my daughter. She is looking forward to the new pools. We'll have a car, so if the food is still bad, we'll go elsewhere to eat.

I was just at HIFS for a week at the end of Jan. Have gone to HIFS for four years in a row in Jan. The food is exactly the same as before.(which I agree is pretty yucky) The free breakfast buffet is only promised until April 05, at which point the new food court should be complete and open. There will be a character breakfast and another breakfast area, neither will be free to adults but kids will continue to "eat free" but not at character breakfast. We stayed on the Oasis side as pool and slides were complete. I spent a lot ot time talking to staff as I am becoming a "regular". Looks like the other pool area is going to be incredible...anyone going should be excited. The lobby area has changed and is in a completely different area of the hotel (facing old front it is to the right side of the "old" lobby) and on the corner of the hotel. Staff was as friendly and helpful as always, there has been little change in staff, saw some new faces at check-in. Poolside entertainment is outstanding for the Nickelodeon crowd. I agree free breakfast saved some money but I could only handle the food quality for about two days and then lost total interest anyways. Hoping that they offer incentives (cheaper rooms) to loyal customers.

Of by the way...two types of kidsuites. King size bed with bunks and a trundle bed in second themed bedroom or Queen size bed with two twin beds in second themed bedroom

How big of a person will that trundle bed hold? My DD wants the bunks so bad but she is the only child and there will be 4 other adults. I'm wondering if someone can fit on the trundle without needing to use the living room to sleep in. thanks, Kim

what kind of rates are you guys getting for end of May early June?

Thanks

Michele

Hi,
We stayed in the kidsuite with the bunkbeds. The trumble bed is only for a child. My grandson at the time was ten and he just fit. We are going back and this time we are staying in the suites with twin beds. My grandson thought he wouldn't fit two well in the bunk beds. He is now twelve. He isn't a real big kid either.
hope this helps,
Carla

The trundle bed is only the size of a toddler bed, or slightly larger.

We're florida residents, and were thinking of booking there for our trip in a few weeks. I am a little dismayed that they want so much money per night, especially since the place is still under construction. We've stayed there before and I wasn't too impressed by anything, except for the pool area and the kidsuites.

Does anyone know when the main pool area will be done (the one shown on the website). We were thinking of making a Non-disney trip down in the beginning of April. What else is not done?

we walked around and checked it out last sunday. we're excited by the idea, but no way would I stay there in the near future. way too much construction, and what I've seen so far isn't that impressive. the main pool is a long way from complete.
