I'm off in 10 days...I hope! But all the hurricane action has brought back memories of last year, and we were stuck in the UK until hurricane Frances did its thing....

And its all a bit reminicent. I know Hurricane Katrina will be gone by then but there is plenty of time for another one to make its way over to coincide with my holiday.....

I swear I'm bad luck!

Keep ypur chin up, hope you have the best of luck.

We fly in exactly 2 weeks time. My attitude is that I can't let something bother me that I can't control......so we are still excited and very much looking forward to the trip.

We go two weeks tomorrow, and we were there for Frances last year! It certainly wasn't as bad in orlando as they showed on UK news channels, they concentrate on the worst affected areas. I had family and friends calling me to see if we were ok - and I have the mobile bill to show for it!! LOL!

Ok, we were stuck in the hotel for 2 days, but orlando got back on its feet straight away and everything was business as usual, a bit wet and windy, but at least the parks were quiet!

I'm not worried, even though it wouldn't surprise me if we witnessed another storm. We're flying to cornwall later today for the week, so fingers crossed we don't get any freaky weather while we're there!

we go in three weeks and i am just hoping we get good weather but as i can't control it ( however hard i try !! 0 i will just keep getting more and more excited !! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

We go two weeks on Wednesday. Weatherwise, what will be, will be, no point getting worried about it as there's nothing that we can do. If this one gets cut short, there's always next time.

A week on Friday we go, that reminds I need to book a hotel and car hire :)

D

Thursday, hopefuly the current tropical depresison will remain that way and this is the only bad one, for out sake and moreso fo those over there in the paths.

hi

We go in two weeks too. Just had a thought I have a very jumpy 12 yr old with me - if we do get delayed by a hurricane for a day or two on departure,
do I have to go on the next available flight, or can i cancel and get my money back.

I have visions of my niece refusing to fly if we do get delayed at gatwick.

If anyone knows the answer to the above, please let me know I liked to be prepared.

We leave on the 9th. Not worried in the slightest, we always have visited in September and have been lucky.

To be honest the News channels tend to exaggerate the weather problems to a degree, in 1998 my mother was worrying her self stupid when GMTV reported that the weather in Orlando was so bad that the Shuttle had to be removed from it's launch pad!! never mind the facts that 1 - Kennedy is not in Orlando and 2 - I was there that day and it was still on it's pad!! When we arrived back we were dumfounded by the amount of people asking if we were OK!!

We go on the 15th, If we get a hurricane, we will look at it as a new experience. We had a tropical storm 1 grade below hurricane status on our honeymoon in St Lucia and we were gutted, if it had been a hurricane we would have got another trip!
I got very annoyed yesterday when an old biddy ( my brothers MIL) asked if it was wise to take our ds to Florida! she started with the weather then moved onto exposing children to such awful commercialism! WHAT! I really had to bite my tongue. Why do people who have no experience of these things feel they have the right to comment?

Sorry for the rant, lets hope for no more serious storms ect, and we all have freaky good weather for sept!!

crossed fingers ect, Alex

We go on 7th September for 3 weeks. Like many others on here, we were there for Hurricane Frances last year, and had to stay in the hotel for a couple of days. It hasn't stopped us booking for the same time this year though :flower:

I am just so excited to be going back again :Pinkbounc

My in-laws are due to fly on Saturday morning, this is despite them saying last year that they would never go in September again :-)

we get that ALL the time from our friends, relatives....everyone.....they just don't get it....but it's their loss.....we have a wonderful time every time we're there...commercialism and all.......in any case, every place you go in the world as a tourist is essentially in existence to make money....we just spent the weekend in Chicago.....which i have to say is really a lovely lovely city (much improved from when i went to grad school there 25 years ago)....but it's every bit as commercial....

and when we're at WDW, everyone working there is always so concerned that we're all having a good time.....sure it's a business and they want to make money, but they really do want us to have a magical time (and we always do)....

and by the way, some things are quite reasonable there...
we rented bicycles at the WL to ride over on the bike trail to FW....
the bikes cost $8/hour.....but it only took us a half hour to ride there and back.....when i looked at the receipt, i noticed she'd only charged us a total of $8 for both bikes.....in other words, she only charged us for a half hour each....when she could have charged us $16 (since the minimum is an hour)....things like that happen all the time.....
all four of us rented bikes another time when about 10 minutes after we started out, it began to rain cats and dogs....we came back an hour later.....it had rained the entire time and we were indeed soaked through to the bone, but we'd kept on riding the whole time (this was at POR).....when we came back to the bike rental, they didn't charge us at all because of the rain....
now that's definitely not commercialism at work....
