We were in MK last monday night for EMH and decided to ride the TTA. Well when it went thru Space Mt. the ride was all lit up! I guess they were having problems and had to close it for a while, but seeing how big SM really is was amazing!
It's one of the few coasters I ride, and that was because it was dark and I couldnt see what was ahead (that and RNR).

Has anyone else seen SM with the lights on?

I have also seen Space Mountain lit up. A couple years ago I was there with my kids and noticed that Space Mountain was closed temporarily. Someone had told me that when it is closed the lights go on, so I immediately got on TTA with the kids. Fortunately, when the ride got to Space Mountain the lights were still on so we got to see it.

PS. Someone told me that whenever something flies out of the car (re. sunglasses) the ride shuts down so that CMs can retrieve the items. I was also told that there are many cameras monitoring the ride so that they know when something falls out of the cars.

I have never seen Space Mountain all lit up, but I would love to! :cool1: I love Space Mountain, it would be fun to ride it with the lights on, but probably not as thrilling. :)

We saw it all lit up in January when we were riding the TTA also. It was pretty awesome. Of course it's such a surprise that you don't think to take a picture until it's too late!!

We too have seen it all lite up. It's funny, just looks like a whole bunch of metal.

Me too! I wonder if we saw it on the same day? My youngest dd, who hates SM commented as we saw it lit up, "No wonder I hated it!" lol! I thought it was really cool! We rode around the TTA again and tried to take a pic, but it didn't come out.

I have seen it with the lights on, too. The first time I ever got on it, it broke down. We sat in the car for a while, then they had us walk out as we stopped shortly after the ride began.

We saw it all lit up several years ago when on the TTA. Has SM ever gone down during the off-season for a rehab and if so, would they still run the TTA during the day with the lights on? For some reason I think we saw it during one of our January visits several years ago and SM wasn't open and running but the TTA was. It was pretty neat-o :earboy2:

Yeah, we have seen it on several of our trips. Makes me wonder how often they really must shut it down! :rolleyes1

With the lights on, the ride looks like a jumbled mess of metal! :earseek:

One year, Space Mountain was closed for rehab and we went on the TTA and saw it lit up. The year after that, I rode Space Mt for the first time. If everyone could see Space Mt with the lights on, they'd probably have no problem riding it...no drops, just turns.

Space Mountain was also closed when we went one year. We rode TTA and my parents usually go to sleep during the ride and when we went through SM I noticed it was lit up. I woke my parents and they caught a glimpse. It was pretty awesome to see it all lite up. I love to see it lite up, but I also love to ride it as well. :goodvibes

We were on the TTA this past Wednesday morning. The lady in the car behind us was riding with small children while her husband and older kid were in line for Space Mountain. He called her cell and said the lights were on (they were close to where you get in a vehicle). Sure enough, when we went in, the lights were on and you could see everything. Pretty cool, but it doesn't really look like much except a lot of metal. I had my camera out and took a few pictures, but they didn't really get. We hadn't been out more than a minute when her husband called her back and said it was running and they would be getting on soon.

I was nearing the end of the Space Mountain line on 6/18 when the ride broke and the lights went on. Not much to see, just a bunch of grey steel.

We never did get to ride it that day.

That was a cool video! We saw it once as well from the TTA. It does look just like a bunch of metal, very cool though.

We saw it from the TTA several years ago when it was being refurbished. I think it was in January. It really looks like nothing with the lights on. Yet I'm still afraid to ride! :confused3
