opened up new Toshiba notebook computer yesterday. Backlight doesnt work. Took it back to Circuit City today, they are getting a new one from another store tomorrow. DH was very po'd since it was my big present from him.

My SS had gotten a toy that was broken. I think it broken during transit, but my DH had fixed it and it works fine now.

I got my mom one of those nice electronic card shufflers and the one side shuffles slower than the other. One of the gears doesn't go around like it's suppose to. My mom is going to take it back today and get another one.

My daughter's Amazing Amanda doesn't work. Santa should have paid attention to all of the reviews for this doll.

My new elliptical display didn't work. We took it back and exchanged it, but don't know yet if the new one works.

the WDW train we got DS5 doesn't work - it only makes noise but doesn't move around the track :(

I got the Chronicles of Narnia computer game. But it won't download on my computer. Now I have to bring both my laptop AND the game to the computer store to try to get it to work.

That happened to DD's Amazing Ally a few years back. She wouldn't recognize anything that was pluged into her. Told DD I would try to exchange it back to Toys R Us. Did and got another one just to have her keep saying OVER AND OVER "I need my book". We still joke about it today.

Oh, this year's Santa mishap was the Memorex personal DVD player that DD got. The 'elves' forgot to pack the remote control to it. DH just left to see if KMart would exchange it for a new one w/ remote.

Santa's track record isn't too good here in this house. Remember a few years back the Cabbage Patch Doll that ate food?? Yup, he left that under the tree only to find out day after Christmas that it had been recalled because if a child's hair got too close to the mouth, the doll would eat the child's hair. (and not stop 'chewing'.) Two years ago Santa brought GO-Go walking pup to younger DD. That wound up being exchanged at Toys r Us for another one too. DH said the one Santa brought didn't work, but what really happened was that the batteries DH put in (from a new package), were dead. All we really needed was fresh batteries. I didn't have to go through all that trouble of waiting on line at the store and then panicking when I didn't see any go-go's on the shelf. (Did find the last one the store had tucked away on the floor in a corner.)

ds got a pc game that did not work. odd thing is we bought another sponge bob pc game last year and it did'nt work too (although all the other software with the same specs were fine). i called walmart and spoke to a electronics manager this morning-told him i was not going to go through a reapeat of last years when they would only trade the game for another copy (which also did'nt work) and then refer me to the manufacturer (who never responded-game ended up getting tossed out). he must have been through this before with other customers, so he said to bring it back TODAY with receipt. they ended up giving ds a giftcard so he can pick something else out.

Amanda wouldn't even turn on. I returned it this morning and I didn't bother trying to get a new one.

We received the SIMS 2 computer game from a friend. The install hung up because disc 2 of 4 was faulty. Went to Taget and got a new copy. This time it hung up on disc 4 of 4. Went back to Target and had them give us disc 4 of 4 from the first bad copy. Finally we have a working copy.

Great game. :)

A former co-worker of mine would take all of 'Santa's' gifts out of their packaging, put them together (if needed) and put in the batteries (if needed) BEFORE wraping them and putting them out. One reason was to make sure they worked/had all the parts and the other was so the kids could start playing right away without waiting for Mom and Dad to put it together. It kept the after-gift opening hours much calmer without the kids beging 'put this together for me, mama' every 5 minutes!

Santa usually does really well in this department, but had a brain cramp this year and forgot batteries and the light bulb for the EX Bake oven. Papa went out and found both so the kids could use their gifts.

DH got me an iHome (clock radio that you can plug your iPod in to). He specifically asked if the nano could be used with it. Well, it can, but you have to purchase a special rest for it. Of course the phone number and website are mobbed today, so I can't get one, and now the kit comes withthe accessory. So although not broken, it is completely useless.

I am tempted to return it to Best Buy and re-buy the kit with the correct adapter.

Olympus m:robe 500i MP3 player - a piece of junk with its own proprietary software that you have to use to copy music. Blue screened my computer, corrupted the music database on the device, and it would not work anymore.

Traded it in and got the Creative Zen Sleek.

DS got a few "defective" gifts:
1)the spongebob tv was missing the remote and instruction book - called the company that made it and they are sending them out - but he can't even watch the tv because it is preset with a parental lock, that can't be taken off till we get the remote. I am really PO'd about this one. I bought it at wal-mart and they don't have anymore. - plus I got it on sale so I don't want to return it and then try to find another one for more money. So, he will have to wait another week before the remote comes. Also tried a universal remote, it would not take the codes.
2)he got a matchbox ice mountain playset thing, and after an hour of putting the stupid thing together and then putting in the batteries, we figure out it is faulty and the crane won't work on it (the batteries were good, we tried them in another toy) So.... have to bring that back and get another one to spend an hour putting together again.
3)Also got a toy truck that releases dominoes into a line - except it pushes over the dominoes after laying down about only 10 of them. A big waste of money.

But.. DS said it was the "best Christmas ever", so I guess that makes up for it!! :)

ETA: we got DS the "zero gravity" by Air Hogs car that climbs up walls - I can't believe we spent $60 on that!! It needs to charge for 4-5 hours for 10-15 minutes of play, and it hardly works and makes a ton of noise!! After using it once, DS isn't interested anymore.

We bought our oldest DS a TV. DH programmed it, turned it off to join the rest of us for a game of Sorry!....after the game DS went to watch it and it would not turn on. It has already been returned and we will get him a different one this weekend.
