Who else gets tired of people saying

I went to Disney back in 2000 with my first husband. He was a real jerk and I was not able to have a good time. I fell in love with Disney and I so wanted to go back. I have married agian to a husband who is very sweet and has a child's heart most of the time. He doesnt think he will like Disney. But I know once he is there.. that big kid I love will come out. We have out son who is three who I know will have a blast. This will be my doorway to open to try and go once a year if possible. I would love to go now, if I could.

Do what you enjoy to do. These people who do not understand, they have thier own loves and things they like to do. You can tell them what my Grandma always said ...."sweep out from under your own porch before you sweep out under someone else's"...
If you can go as often as you want and have a good time, that is ALL that matters. I have always put a lot of importance on Vacations. My hubby and I both work full time and it is hard to step out of the daily life and relax. That is what a Vacation is all about. Spending good time with your family. I guess after such a long winded reply, the bottom line is make yourself happy and you family. That is so worth it and the memories will last a lifetime.

Keep smiling and keep on planning your trips. We are all here with you...

I get the same reaction especially at work. I didn't tell anyone about my little October 2004 (MNNSHP and my B'Day) trip until my last day before vacation. They asked what I was doing during my few days off. I said "You don't really want to know"(because I have heard their reactions before). "Yes we do, ohhh wait don't tell me you're going to see the Rat again"!!! Yes I am!!! I responded.

They can pay to golf, go fishing, hunting, etc (can you tell I work with a bunch of guys). I never say Oh your going to waste your money on golf AGAIN!!! I think they think DH just goes along with me to keep me happy, they don't realize he is just as addicted as I am :-). And that's the way I like it. DS is 18 and is always asking when we are going back.

It's your money - spend it however it makes you happy - Life is Too Short. No matter what the rest of the world thinks we DIS'ers have each other.

You need to not worry about what others think of where you vacation. My family and I have gone at least twice a year and sometimes 3 times. We have never lived close so that was always what we did for our family trips. We've been many other places but Disney is the one place that we all love the most and always wanted to go. It was not even just my parents and I. My grandparents, my aunts and uncles, cousins, you name it, we all went there together. It was always wonderful. And now, my DH and I carry on the tradition. We even enjoy going there just the two of us. In fact, we went there for our honeymoon. We are going this May with our DS and my parents. Fact is, Disney is a place where families can get together, enjoy one another and have fun. It is a place where dreams come true happens. Those who knock it either haven't been or just don't understand real magic! Have a Disney day and plan as many trips to the most magical place on Earth as much as you can! :earboy2:

Yes, I get tired of hearing it also. I am to the point where I just don't reply as I'm not going to keep explaining what I chose to do to anyone. I don't get why people say things to us (jealousy?), there are so many people who vacation at the same beach (i.e. Outer Banks, Cape Cod) every year! That doesn't seem to bother anyone - yep, it must be jealousy :)

My fiance and I get that a lot from couples that we know. Why do you always go their? Why don't you go to Europe or an island or something? We have been together for four years and have been to DisneyWorld four times. We love it and almost never leave the property. We enjoy seeing new hotels, Polynesian is our favorite so far, trying new restaurants. DW is so big you almost can never get tired of doing something. We have never stayed less than ten days. Also every year we go, except this one, we keep saying we will take a trip to Italy or somewhere else. But we usually start making plans for next year before we even leave the resort!! It is simply just our special spot on Earth. :wizard:

I just come back with, "You going to Ocean City AGAIN?! You going to Vegas AGAIN?! You playing the same golf course AGAIN!?"

Great idea! I really feel sorry for the people who say that (well, I try to feel sorry for them, but usually it's more an angry sorry!). I try to feel sorry because they say that because they don't know what Disney World is all about. They think of it as just 4 theme parks, maybe a few hotels. They don't realize that there are so many non-park things to do. I've been to WDW 19 times, and there are still many things I haven't done. Also, there are certain things you HAVE to do every trip. When we rented a cottage at Cape Cod, it was eat a sundae at the Sundae School. Now, it's eat a sundae at B&C. And I'll bet all these "You're going there AGAIN?" people have traditions on vacations also. Maybe they just don't admit it.

I get this ALL THE TIME from (of all people) my mother. :guilty: She has never been so she just doesn't GET IT!!! :wizard:

I feel that it's our money, our time and our vacation. If we choose to go to WDW every year (or more) that's our business and OUR PLEASURE!!! :cloud9: Can't wait for May!!! :cheer2:

You have a GREAT time!!! I know you will!!
:cool1:

Thank goodness I'm not alone. I've heard all the same complaints from family that everyone else has. My parents couldn't afford WDW when we were kids and it was always my dream of going some day. My twins are almost 7 and have been on DCL x3, WDW x5 and US x2. I've never regretted any of our trips. DH has a high stress job and even though he groans at me every time I mention a vacation, he always cracks the shell and has a great time. We had a trip booked in 2003 and DFIL died suddenly 6 weeks before the trip. We went to US/WDW for 12 nights and I think it was the best therapy that DH could have received. I always feel like a kid again when I walk down Main Street and get tears in my eyes when my kids see a character and get all excited-those are memories that no one can take away. Sure, for the amount of $$ I've spent at Disney over the past 4 years I could be driving some high priced SUV, but my children are priceless to me and if I don't make their childhoods memorable, who will? My brother is the cheapest person I know. His idea of a vacation is going to my parents house for a few days because he knows that he won't have to pay for food, lodging or entertainment. I asked them if they wanted to split the cost of a DCL for my parents 45th wedding anniversary and we'd all go as an extended family. I told them how my parents would be thrilled to have their whole family on a cruise and that it would be a once in a lifetime experience. Well, after of waiting 6 weeks for a response, I had to call them about something else and asked if they had made a decision about DCL. Their response was "we could do a lot to our house for that much money!" Well, I figure in about 20 years when my kids get together with their families they can talk about all the fun they had on all their wonderful trips to WDW and DCL and how their parents really tried to make their childhoods memorable. I figure my brothers kids can talk about the kitchen floor their parents put in...

Just tell them you don't need to go to Europe...there's World Showcase after all. It's better than the real thing. That drives them nuts.

Oh my God, tihs happened to me TODAY!! Of course it happens plenty of other times, too. I teach 3rd grade so my students LOVE the fact that I'm a WDW freak. My fellow teachers think I am certifiable. They can't believe we are going again, WHENEVER we go.

My family growing up went on ONE family vacation....to Philadelphia to see my aunt, who was a nun. Thrilling. My parents just couldn't afford it.

I vowed that my family would take vacations every summer! We've made it most years, not always WDW, butt somewhere.

Then after I married my second husband (1993) we caught the bug! We just love going!! As my kids got older, they never got tired of WDW. DD19 wants todo the college program if she can. DD19 and DS16 celebrated their 16th birthdays there. DS5 has grown up there!

It's a challenge to find something that two teens and a toddler will all enjoy, but WDW fits the bill! DD19 andDS16 grew closer every trip and enjoyed being "on their own" then they got old enough. It's part of our lives!

Today I tried to explain to my fellow teacher who gave me the "Not that again" comment that it's just a special, magical place. That I always can forget the rest of the world for that time. That I still scream in glee when I see and get to hug the characters! That we take it slow and just have fun. It's never old and it's never boring. Everyone is always so nice there. It's just a pleasant, enjoyable experience, with lots of smiles from everyone.

Whenever I walk through to Main Street and see the castle, I wish I could physically HUG the MK. I really do!

Ahhhhhh..... 64 days (I think) and I'm there!
(PS Glad to see I'm not the only one who spends Christmas money and Barnes and Nobles gift cards on MORE Disney books!!!

(PSS WDW was a lifeline to me and my family over the past year and a half as I struggled with breast cancer, chemo, and radiation, during the middle of which DH was diagnosed with kidney cancer. Only at WDW did I just chuck the hat and go around bald...smiling all the while!!)

We live in MN where owning a cabin up north is the big thing...each Fri from about April to Oct (then in the winter for snowmobiling and ice fishing) there is a mass exodus of people to their cabins. Now what I don't get is how you work hard all week long, spend Fri. night packing up the car/SUV for your cabin, leave late Fri night driving at least two hours, if not more, unpack, clean and organize the cabin, get to enjoy it for maybe one full day before you have to clean and reorganize and pack up the vehicle, and drive back! And they say we're crazy for spending a week at the World, getting Disney service????

Earlier someone posted how his/her father had recently passed away and his/her fondest memories of him later in life was spent on WDW vacations as a whole fam. Now that is what it is all about...I'll never forget our family reunion trip in 02 when my 70 yr. old great uncle went on Dinosaur and my dad and bros went on Tot and RnRC together. You're always a kid at heart and those memories cannot be replaced or replicated anywhere else!

I have been visiting WDW since it opened in 1971. So, I have heard the
"are you going there AGAIN" for quite a long time. Some of our happiest family memories have occured there and our pictures and videos are part of our cherished memories of our departed Family and Friends. I guess no one was surprised when we bought into DVC in early 1992 and HAD to cruise Disney Cruiseline when it first sailed !
When I retired in 2001 most thought that we would move to Celebration since we spent so much time in that area!
I can only hope that those who utter "are you going THERE again" have had wonderful vacations, family and friend time and memories elsewhere. That's what makes the world go round----I'm glad I LOVE DISNEY !!!!!!!!!!!!!
