Who else hates this saying......."Disney is just for kids" ? This drives me crazy. I'm going in December and have been planning since February. I don't know how many times I've heard from family members or friends how I'm wasting my money and how disney is just for kids and its not worth it. The crazy part is that all of these people have been there before, but of course only for a day or two. They just don't see it the way we do. :sad2:

You know, I think that my husband and myself enjoy Disney more then my kids do! although I do have to admit ONE of my kids is a true Disneyholic. :thumbsup2
I don't understand how they can say that Disney is only for kids when at least half the people there are adults! :confused3 we were just at WDW and we noticed a lot of adults w/o kids who were having a great time. We will NEVER outgrow Disney!  Helen

I TOTALLY agree! I do not have any chldren, but when I am at Disneyworld I AM a kid. I get so lost in the magic that all the worries at home (work, etc.) just melt away! I LOVE the feeling of utter bliss when I am at WDW, DCL, or DL!

Sounds like the perfect opportunity to educate them on all Disney has to offer for adults. :)

Don't let'em getcha down!! If everybody loved Disney as much a we do, just think how crowded it would be. ;)

I know it is frustrating to feel as if you are being judged, especially by your family, but it really is none of their business how you spend your money. Go and have fun. After all, we know it is their loss, not yours!! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

We hear it too. Almost as many times as 'You're going there AGAIN?'

Our children have grown and married, that was over 10 years ago and me and the wife still go to WDW. Nowhere else can we enjoy the theming and atmosphere of a Disney resort. Where else can we sample so many different kinds of food. And as for lounge hoping, nowhere has as many lounges than WDW. For our money, there's no better place on earth to sit back, relax and have a few cocktails than WDW. When we get bored doing that, well.......there are 4 huge parks, plus 2 water parks plus DTD to loose yourself in. Yep, people just don't get it, most that tell me I'm crazy have gone but have stayed off property and only done 2 days of parks. Fools that they are, are missing all the lace and frills thats hidden inside the forests of WDW.

I hear that a lot too. But to them I say..."On our last trip we took Segways around Epcot, my husband went diving in the world's largest aquarium AND he drove a NASCAR car at 130mph." :teeth:

Then I usually get..."Ohhh." And that's the end of that. :thumbsup2

But what I don't tell them is, yes, I'm 45 and Dumbo is my favorite ride. :goodvibes

My sister-in-law says that Disney is just for kids. She's never been there and has no interest in going. I promised my nieces I would take them next summer if my brother and sister-in-law would let them go. They'll be 11 and 13. They can't wait. We are planning to go and I'm so excited to take them. I took my DGD 3 1/2 for the first time this summer with my DD and we had so much fun. It will be a whole new world for my nieces, and they'll see that it's
for everyone, and that they're not "too old for Disneyworld".

You have a good point Mdm. Leota and I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who hears this silliness.

Actually, my friends and I always say that Disney is NO PLACE for kids!!!!! :rotfl2:

I am SO sick of hearing "you're going again?! And you don't even have kids..."
I am 20 years old and I don't even tell people I'm going anymore, they look at me like I have 2 heads. They can't comprehend why a 20 year old would want to go to a place for "babies." :furious: Well, let's just be happy, keep them away and there are less crowds for us. :cool1:

If Disney is only for kids wow that means I am a 42 yo kid then :lmao: We get the same thing sometimes.

Think how you would feel if you were 46 and people were telling you the same things. DH and I are just crazy to like Disney at our ages. Especially since we don't have children. NOT!!! :rotfl2:

Been there, heard that. I know how you feel. We are going next week without the kids and there are some people that just do not understand. But I look at how lucky I am because I am a kid at heart, and that is why I enjoy Disney so much.

Disney is for kids, of all ages! You can never be too old (or too young, if it is safe to travel.)

We took many trips to WDW before having kids, and we got that from people all the time. :guilty: We loved our trips and I am so glad we had them.

Now that we have kids we enjoy it on a new level. We love sharing our joy of it with our kids.

I used to think that since having kids I wouldn't go to WDW with out them.

Never say never. We are considering a trip with just DH and I (our very 1st since having kids.) The kids will have gone in Jan and will go again in May so I don't feel sorry leaving them out. I just am craving a trip with just adults, so we can do what we want.

I think WDW actually has more for adults that for kids. In reality, it's probably one of the most family oriented vacation destinations in the world.

Over the past twenty years I've been to WDW with kids from toddler through teenager and many times with just adults. It's a different experience for adults without kids than it is for adults with kids of different ages.

Think about it... any time you have a variety in ages you'll also have a variety in interests. That also applies to endurance as well. Sometimes small children wear out early, and sometimes it's the adults that wear out early. Some kids will get bored with some of the "lamer" attractions and want to stick to the thrills, others just want to go back to the hotel and go swimming. Some people want to hurry to get in all the rides they can and others want to take their time and enjoy the entertainment and atmosphere. Meals can be a major conflict as the size of your group gets bigger.

Two adults with no children or set agenda can actually have a very nice time at WDW. You just need to see past the thrill rides and kid's stuff.

Even though, leagally, I am a kid, I hate the saying as well.

Everyone is still a kid if they want to be one!
