Who else does all the planning?

For RLS, tell your husband to try potassium. I prefer the powdered Potassium Gluconate. I read that 98% of Americans don't get enough. You don't want to get too much. When I've calculated my intake I end up getting 1500 a day, and recommended is mid-4000's. So, I don't worry about getting too much, but you don't want to go bonkers with it. I'll take 3/4T with a meal, twice. Completely cures it.

I do all the planning and while I do enjoy it the part that drives me insane is when I ask hubby for opinions for things etc he will sort of give a little input then after will say "What it cost that much?" ahhhh

The best one was when we were travelling to Disneyland with a friend and I had booked it all even gave them a list of notes lol... the shuttle driver asked what airline we were going on to drop us off and my friend and my hubby looked at each other and started laughing. They didn't even know what flipping airline

Been there!

I planned a reunion vacation...I provided lists to everyone in every format imaginable. I also add photos to help since I know who I'm dealing with :sad2:...We took separate flights since everyone was arriving at different times. When they go there, they were still arguing with each other that it was difficult to get a taxi. When I asked why they just didn't take the complimentary hotel transportation, they just looked at each other...and then my husband said that I had sent everyone a photo of the bus, I told them where to wait for it...:sad2: So it appears no one read my list and they had to pay, which is what they were also arguing about, for the taxi...

They stayed close to me the rest of the time...I told them to check their list because everything is there.

I’m the planner…have a cousin joining for a trip in January because he wants to go with someone that knows all the ins and outs of WDW 🤣 I’ve done multiple Disney trips with different family members, and I’m always the one booking the restaurants, deciding what to ride next, etc. I got sick during a trip in Jan ‘20 and got to the point of can you guys just do it yourself I was so over it 😂 I left the park and waited in the car for 3 hours. (That trip everyone got sick, it was interesting how it was only 6 weeks before everything shutdown…)

me! I am the family whiz with the points! To keep it under budget, DS and DH get giftcards for spending before we go.

Me too. Planning, packing, figure out where the money is coming from, tell them when and where and what they need to do (not much) to come along on the trip. Once my then DH told me at breakfast the day before leaving, that he had no short sleeved shirts. Shopping on my lunch hour that day. If I didn't do the planning we'd never have gone anywhere, so it was worth it. Now I plan for me (and sometimes the kids if they have the time to come along). Love my Disney vacations.

I plan it all. My husband doesn’t care much about where we go or what we do. He knows if he didn’t plan it he doesn’t get to complain. He also knows that I try to keep everyone’s interests in mind—something for everyone. I try to balance planned activities with a menu of options as it gets really old making all the decisions.

Although my husband knows he shouldn't complain, sometimes he does anyway, but it only takes one look for him to realize - he's wrong. :-)

I also tend to plan activities my family likes to do...although we tend to have similar interest, I usually book something that I know they would like. For instance, I don't enjoy the water activities very much, but if there's a good one where we're going, it's the first I book. However, the only thing that would take priority is Ziplining - for some reason, we all love it.

My family hates it, but I make them set their clothes aside a week prior...they think I'm crazy, but I think I would have snapped if one of them told me they didn't have something we needed for the trip.

Don't get me wrong, part of my travel love is the research and planning that goes into it. If I could afford a career change it would be as a travel agent 100%.

As a family of five I've planned three Disney trips and a cruise as big vacations over the years. Plus trips to Mexico and Costa Rica for my husband and I.

The family trips once all was done ranged from $8000-$10,000. That's with discounts and off season etc. Typical for those of us who understand prices.
I've always planned, booked and told the family here is what's happening.
I'm planning something different for next year (Florida has lost my love for the time being)so I thought I'd keep my husband in the loop. When I tell him it will be roughly $10,000 for all he looks at me like I'm crazy. I just shake my head and ask what he thought every other trips total were.

Anyone else prefer just plan and keep others in the dark? I've never bankrupted us, I'm well aware of my budget. Now he's got me second guessing the cost on what I initially thought was a great deal for a dream trip.

I'm the planner for the family. Have never spent anywhere close to what you do lol. Granted we've never done vacations to Costa Rica or Mexico, but even our upcoming Disney trip is only half of that. Most of our family vacations have only been $2000-2500 for a full week away.

I suspect that you tend to go more all out than we do. We choose budget options, rent houses/condos so we can make our own meals, buy attraction tickets on sale, and choose many free activities like hiking, sightseeing, beaches, little out of the way things, local festivals etc...

Yup. Lol we take one big trip every 3 years. We are an 'average income' house. Hubby and I work our butts off usually 6days/week...but we keep bills paid and food on table. I have my travel account that I toss extra funds into plus a monthly allowance. Really it's not hard to save $3000/year when I have an end goal. If something falls apart at home and we need extra money, I take from that account too. So my budget does vary each trip and I've always managed to find what we want and fit it into that budget.
Yes though I do tend to splurge on my big trips best I can. Lol the years in between our summer is spent in a tent camping. I much prefer the luxury of hotel suites and hot meals served to me when I can. 😀
