Who else ain't going unless they get a discount???

We're staying for two weeks at our timeshare. We have a PIN code and hope we'll get one for Poly so we can add a couple of days there. If we don't we'll just skip that.

We'll go. We'll just stay offsite. Honestly, Disney has made an error with me. Without a discount, I started looking into offsite options. Realized I could get an offsite timeshare for half the cost of what we'd pay on property (a little more when you figure in gas/rental/parking, but still saving at least 25% over onsite)... and that we'd get twice the space and better accomodations -- luxury timeshare vs. Disney value. Now I'm at the point where I think, "Why would I want to stay on site?" It would be better if they'd offered discounts sooner. I'm under my 180 days now so I've made ADRs assuming we're offsite. Discounts would have to be really, really good to appeal to me now.

Ya know... I did the same thing. And now I'm really having a hard time swallowing the price of an onsite trip (even in a value!)

Our whole family went in December 2010, and sure the family suites were okay. We thought it was nice having a separate room that we could shut the door and let the kids go to sleep. BUT, when I really sit down and compare what you get with an off site stay (laundry, kitchen, more space!!!) I just can't justify the on site prices.

Right now I'm looking for a trip for the girls and DH and I. DH would prefer to stay on site that trip, but I'm not sure we can justify it. Especially since we won't even be tempted to go to the room midday. Swan/Dolphin might even be a stretch that trip.

We prefer to stay at Disney deluxe hotels, which I consider the real-world equivalent of an upper-mid-level chain like Hyatt or Hilton or Westin. With a good discount (35-40%), I can stay CL at a Disney deluxe for close to the same price as CL at the Hyatt Grand Cypress and less than the Waldorf or Ritz. And I don't mind paying a little bit more, because we get the benefits of Disney transportation and that "Disney feel."

Take away that discount (or even reduce it down to the 20% range), though, and suddenly I'm paying far more than I would for the Hyatt or Swan/Dolphin and the same or sometimes more than a room at the Ritz. That, I'd have a hard time justifying. In fact, we're considering a trip over Thanksgiving this year, and I'm not even looking at Disney resorts because I know they won't be discounted & the rack rates are insane. :scared1:

Don't get me wrong -- we'll still go to the parks. We just won't stay at the resorts.

We have gone every year for the last 5 years in the fall. Disney sends us codes all the time. Every trip we went on, we had a code. This year nothing yet and I refuse to go and stay on site paying full price. I just can't see spending $300-400 a night for an average hotel room that is comparable to a Marriott that I can get for around $100 a night. We can afford to go and pay full price but I refuse to. Maybe we will check out other destinations for a change.

I'm just blessed to be a FL resident...so I'll ALWAYS have a discount! :woohoo::hug:

Same here. If it was even semi-reasonable, I'd consider it, but the prices for Easter week are insane. I'm simply not in my room enough to warrant paying $500 a night for BWI or BC. I look at Grand Floridian prices and it's :scared1:

I've discovered that the Magic is only worth so much to me.

So for a couple years in a row, we've received PINs first week for Jan for dates through Dec. This is the year we actually want to go and we've gotten nothing from Disney!! It's like they KNOW! Well we paid rack rates our very first time and I don't think we're gonna go without a PIN or promo, especially with the hike in their rates and their many many different seasonal rates.

Ditto:thumbsup2 The only time I have paid rack rate was to get free dinning. I do not forsee us ever going at rack rates, and even with discounts we think the upper deluxes are still not worth the $$.

Really hoping we get a good pin code if we do we will stay at boardwalk if we dont we will modify and stay at a value...... would prefer to have a code but it wont stop us from going.

We're hoping to go in December and I think that even without a discount we'll head to a value. But I really don't want to, I want to stay at a mod or even a deluxe and that all depends on the discount! I'd take free dining or the room-only, I'm not that picky!

I just priced a similar resort on site/airline tickets/park tickets to compare with what I am paying using my timeshare exchange and with car rental/similar accomodations offsite (WBC) we will be saving about $4,500.00! Needless to day we will be staying offsite. Last time we exchanged into Wilderness Lodge Villas.
