We will be staying at SSR next Jan., then going to Miami to board a cruise. We dont really feel comfortable trying to drive to Miami on our own (too stressful - Im a bad navigator). Which company would you recommend to drive us?

I checked mapquest, you're looking at a 237 mile drive, almost 4 hour drive. You might be better off flying.

You're probably looking at at least $40/ hour +tip + tolls based on the time it takes for R/T since the driver won't be able to get a fare going back. Rental car or even flying would be cheaper.

Also, if you fly, the cruise line will pick you up at MIA.

Being driven is not really a cost-effective option, and you can often get relatively inexpensive flights.

You might also check flying into Fort Lauderdale (FLL). Fares there are sometimes less expensive than to Miami. But before you do that, be sure your cruise line picks up there. Not all of them do.

There's really nothing to navigate. Take either the Beeline to I-95 and head South pretty much to the end, or take the FL Turnpike to I-95 and head south pretty much to the end.

Once you get into Miami there are signs to the port.

I always use Golden Limo, I know he will take people to Miami. http://www.goldenlimofla.com/index.html

I picked a random day in January 2006. One-way flights from MCO to MIA are just $82 per person. Even for a large family, that would be much cheaper than chartering a driver and a towncar or limo -- and much faster too.

If you fly American, you can use Resort Airline Check-in at SSR to check your bags through to Miami (or possibly through to your ship, if your cruise line does this). Take a Magical Express motorcoach from SSR to MCO for free. Then have your cruise line get you from MIA to the ship.

If your only concern with renting a car is navigation, consider renting a Hertz car with Hertz Neverlost. It's a GPS navigation system that provides a video-based map that pinpoints your exact location at all times and gives verbal driving instructions. You just have to reserve it ahead of time. The Hertz Kissimmee-WDW location provides complimentary pickup at all WDW resorts.
