Who can use the Quiet Pool?

We have 2 kids and have never used a quiet pool because we thought we weren't allowed. I've read a few posts, though, that mention kids being in the quiet pools and making them not so quiet. Are there any rules about swimming in the quiet pool? I think sometimes in the evening it might be nice for our family to take a dip in the pool without trudging all the way to the main pool.

Thanks!

No rules that I know of, anyone is allowed to use them.

I always thought that the term "quiet pool" came from the fact that you could swim there any time as long as you were "quiet". In other words, they stayed open 24 hrs a day.

These pools are open to anyone, although when swimming there it would be appreciated if the noise level was kept quiet so as to not disturb those who ahve rooms located very closeby.

They are also "quiet" in that they are designed more for swimming than water play (no slides, waterfalls...) In some hotels the posted closing time is not enforced if you're quiet and guests don't complain.

I've asked (non Disney) if the closing time was "hard" or "soft". They laughed and said no problem as long as weren't bothering other guests. I was told the towels were locked up and to bring towels from my room.

If you are staying at CBR the quiet pools are open 24 hours a day. Disney calls them something other than quiet pools. I stayed at CSR recently and the quiet pool wasn't very quiet at midnight. I liked being able to look out the window and see the pool but I sure didn't like the noise.

buckeye>> I am sorry you weren't able to enjoy the quiet pools during previous trips! A quiet pool is just that, a QUIET pool. At night both adults and children should keep noise to a minimum. When our children were younger we used to call it the "library voice" pool. We have found the best times to swim are exactly when you have said, late at night after a long day at the parks!

I never heard of this rule before. I never saw it on the sign by the quiet pool. Did I miss something?

Was it a CM you asked? No closing times on the "signage" or in the info they give us when we register? If so, is it a "non spoken rule" like some of the others : )?

Seems like the "rules" at Disney get laughed at often, eh?

Couldn't resist asking.

I don't know why they call them "quiet" pools. I assumed it was because they are usually not busy. Lack of a slide, theming and lifeguard don't make them as appealing as the main pool. We didn't go to the one at Polynesian only because it was over 8' deep in some spots and I wasn't comfortable with my kids being in there without a lifeguard. I didn't notice anyone being especially quiet while swimming there, nor any rule posted that said you had to be.

Actually it was the manager I asked, when they closed up for the night they left the gate unlocked and asked those by the pool to please keep the noise down so they wouldn't have make us leave. I would say that rule was designed only to be enforced when necessary.

No I didn't ask a CM since it wasn't a Disney property there weren't any CM to ask. :D .

BTW I can't understand all the mug debate. Both the actual rule and the (current) complete lack of enforcement is clear as day.
The sign is clear, the actions of the CM is just as clear.

I re-read my post and I wasn't very clear...By "as long as you are quiet", I meant after regular pool hours.

There is no WDW rule about being quiet at the quiet pool during regular pool hours. Whatever time the pools "officially" close is when the "quiet" time begins. All that means is that late at night, if you want to swim you can. If you get noisy enough that someone complains, and you're actually being loud, they'll probably ask you to leave the pool.

Other than that....you can be as noisy at a quiet pool as you can any other. You can yell, you can giggle...heck, you can even laugh right out loud!

It's not a quiet pool because WDW wants you to be quiet there all the time. Some guests would like total silence on their vacations. WDW isn't the place to go if that's what you're after. There's going to be noise and lots of it.

I kinda laugh at the "quiet pool" name, I think they are more like "satellite pools", not quiet pools...at the BC anyway. We had a lovely room for our honeymoon going back several years ago and it was above the quiet pool.

HOWEVER, that pool was anything but quiet. At 12 midnight we heard plenty of screaming kids (yes at 12 midnight) from our room. It wasn't too bad though so we never said anything to the CMs but I never realized they were actually "quiet" pools! I just thought they were smaller, less crowded pools not staffed with a lifeguard.

I always prefer these pools now with my 4 yr old dd. She's not really loud and gets a little nervous around other kids when they're screaming and splashing around her so it's more comfortable for us to swim at these pools when we stay at the resorts (or the "lap" pools as they call them at the S/D).

As I said, it would be appreciated if you would keep the noise level down so as to not disturb people in nearby rooms. I never said it was a rule or there was a sign.

We stayed in a room right next to the quiet pool at the BC a few years ago and saw security ask people to leave the pool area--my guess is that there had been a complaint about noise (we had just gotten back to the room from PI--it must have been about 1:00am).

That's exactly the way I understand it. After the main pool closes the "quiet" pool stays open, but they want the noise level kept down so as to not disturb people with rooms right by those courtyard areas. During the day it's "anything goes".

That seems to cover a lot of Disney. Until I came to these boards, I never knew they were called quiet pools. I thought they were just not themed pools as much as the others and had no life guards. I also thought (although I don't have one to read) the paperwork you get upon registration, has the pool closing at night..but it seems to be as far as pools go, if a CM tells you it's alright to swim in it past closing time, the "rule" doesn't matter : ) We've certainly seen a large amount of people (kids, loud ones and quiet ones) using them at all hours of the day and night.

Some (all?) of the Disney "quiet" pools are open 24 hours a day.

Actually this is not always true. When we were last at All Star Sports, the paperwork said midnight (no idea what it says now..this was last September)..in January, the "quiet" music pool closed at 11, and in February, the quiet pool at POR-AB closed at 10. We attempted to swim and the guard came by and said it was closed for the night, and everyone had to get out...and it was not noisy. I wish I had one of the papers they give you at check in, because I think it always has a tiem, although I have seen it left open past the time.

CBR's quiet pools are open 24 hours. The other resorts usually close around midnight.

So when ours closes, we can pool hop over to that one right?

Kidding, I'm just kidding!

The AKL doesn't have a quiet pool. I'm pretty sure I read taht the main pool closes at midnight, but others have said they have swum in it later. Perhaps it's one of those rules that isn't enforced at WDW unless there's a complaint?
