Who can help with this borrowing points question?

Here's my problem: I want to stay in the Treehouses for Dec 29, 30. SSR is our home resort and I'll call at 9am on the 11th month mark. I'm figuring that I'll have to walk the reservation and I'll have to borrow a week's worth of points. When I cancel the days I don't need those points will stay in 2010.

Here's the question--Can I use those borrowed points for a vacation in 2011 that I book while it's still 2010, or do I have to use the points by the end of 2010 since they were borrowed into that year?

Also, do you think I should walk the ressie?

If there are enough current year points in the reservation you could ask them to release those when you cancel and keep the borrowed ones.

I think it's more trouble than it's worth, I would just take your chances and call on Jan 29.

Are you asking if they need to be used in the 2010 calendar year - ie, by 12/31/2010? That answer would be no - they would need to be used within your 2010 UY depending on what that is. If it were Feb then they would need to be used by Jan 31, 2011. If it were Mar then they would have to be used by Feb 28, 2011, if it were Dec they would have to be used by Nov 30, 2011 etc. etc.

Using points has nothing to do with when you call to book - only when they are valid for use.
