Ok, so the Farmer's Almanac is showing the weather predictions for Thanksgiving ..... I'm hoping they're wrong!! It's saying we may have a white Thanksgiving up here in the North... (we leave the morning before T-Day) and cold & rainy in the Gulf states north & east to North Carolina!!!!

I guess we'll have to wait & see.... I've seen the FA be a few days to about a week off in past years...

Any one else follow the Almanac??

I believe "predictions" are done on a statistic basis referring to known data for the past weather history.

As far as being right on to the day, well, I guess I will actually write in the book how accurate it is. My new book is for 2003 so I will watch as well. I have never bought it before but I did 2 weeks ago.
Good bathroom material for dh.

They had the guy who writes it on TV a few years back. He cheerfully admitted that all he does is guess at the weather based on what's happened before. He claimed it was accurate 50% of the time. So in essence--mostly worthless. The problem with all the Almanac "followers" is that they are amazed and awed when it's right. But they always seem to forget when it's dead wrong--as it often is.

I guess it's kind of like the "Enquirer"??? Just because it's in print doesn't mean it's true, huh???

I like to check it out and see when the hurricane's are predicted...usually in September & October..hmm, isn't that peak hurricane season?? and when snowstorms are predicted... hmm, it's winter (at least here in New England) and we have a pretty good chance of having snowstorms up here.

I'm not a firm believer in the Almanac, but I love to see what they have to say... I'm definitely NOT staying home because they're saying it's going to snow, but I would rather be down in WDW in rain than shoveling out my driveway!!
