I know there was talk about it a few weeks ago, but the submissions for the 2009 Disney World Mom's Panel opened this morning. They are only taking 20,000 applications and will close it as soon as they reach that number. If you are planning on doing it, hurry! Let's get a DISer on next year's panel!

I got mine in. Wish me luck - I would be thrilled if I even made it through the first cut to the initial phone interview!

Thanks for posting! I was too late for last year so I kept checking as to when they were going to have sign ups again and when I had to get my new laptop (b/c the old one gave me a good jolt) I lost most of my saved info and this was one of them. Thanks to your post, I just got my application in and hopefully I will get a call. Thanks again for the heads up!

I completed my questions days ago and was waiting for 10am to roll around yesterday so I could get my answers in right away.

16 panelists and 20,000 applications. Whew, that's a lot of work!

I applied last year, but didn't make it. Maybe this year?!?

Since the position allows "moms of either gender" and I am a single father, I applied yesterday as well. I believe that a being a single parent present at Disney World presents unique challenges.

With 20,000 applications to be accepted, I'd say the chances are pretty remote but I'll be crossing my fingers.

I did it yesterday AM as well! I know chances are slim... 16/20,000... WOW!

Did anyone else have a hard time conveying their feelings in a mere 100 words? It is hard to give a detailed or informative description in 100 words or less. On the "tip" question I kept having to cut and re-word!

There was/is one Dad on the panet, his name is Bret. They were originally set for 6 months, but their "contract" was extended to a full year.

Is it really only for moms? I think that sucks. If it's a panel it should be filled with all types of family make ups. I consider my husband and cat my family. I don't have children and probably won't for a couple of more years because I still want to have fun and go out without needing a babysitter. Can anyone sign up to go on the panel?

Anyone can enter the contest. There are 2 additional rounds of competition to narrow the field. The second round is also questions and the third round is a phone interview.

The original purpose of the panel is to help first time families plan and navigate their way through their first Disney vacation. The panel was not meant for seasoned pros (though there is lots of information on the website).

wouldn't it be fun if we all got in!!!

but even if not, it was fun writing the answers...i just wrote them online, off the top of my head....i can't imagine how they manage to go through that many applications...
