White Point Beach Vacation Club?

I was wondering if there is anyone here who belongs to the White Point Beach Vacation Club? We went through a speech in North Conway NH last weekend with RCI and resorts (and all that jazz), but would feel much more comfortable having something closer and in Canada.

I am interested in participating with RCI (now that I understand it) but am still a bit leary of all the fees and issues I've been reading.

The biggest things that make the offer attractive with RCI 1-the resorts, obviously 2-20% airfare 3-Last call deals

I know in North Conway we get a free couple night stays on their resort, wondering if the same is true for this location in NS. (I can call them, and will, but would like some info from someone who has had experience with any of this as we are on the fence. We love the idea, but have read some bad things about RCI and the Better Business Bureau. Scares us.

Also, about financing for the location. In NH it was a 7 year payment, per month, in house so we didn't have to have it on the credit report (planing on buying a house next summer and we don't want dh's credit stretched thin. I don't work, stay home with the kids)

Anyway, anyone with any experience with any of this?

The main lodge burned down last year. I think they're re-opening in November.

That kind of put a damper on the resort, though I think they kept the condos/villas open.

Anyway, it has always been a great place to visit, but I don't know anything about the timeshare/ Beach Club.

I thought the building looked familiar! I remember hearing that in the news last year.

Is it very close to Halifax?

Roughly an hour and half to 2 hours depending on where in Halifax you are leaving from and traffic. I am not sure how the vacation club works but I am sure you can find stuff on the website. I will say the owners do not strike me as anything other than honest and upfront. They have certainly done a great job in the restoration. We have had a great time there on many occasions before the fire and are looking forward to going back. If they are involved I would guess it is on the up and up.
