Hey ladies!!

Soooo...I am starting to look for my wedding dress. I'm looking for a pretty casual, simple dress...but still somewhat "bride-y."

I have found a couple of options online that I'd like to order, but I'm having trouble deciding between white or ivory. I tend to think both will look awful on me. I'm freakishly pale. I simply don't tan. If I am outside in the sun for oh...7 seconds...I burn. Then my burn turns back to pale. Lucky me! :rotfl:

Anyhoo...in your experience--what tends to work better with fair skin tones? What did you choose?? Any tips to look a little less Casper-like? :goodvibes

My reply might be completely off because I am naturally pretty tan and get dark FAST! Ok, I would think your real natural skin tone is probably closer to ivory and not white... I don't think too many people are closer to WHITE white unless they are albino or something, I hope that makes sense, lol! So, I would THINK that white would make you look a little bit tanner than ivory since that would kind of wash you out since it would be closer to your same color. Once again, I may be completely off here!! Hopefully somebody might have a better response than me! :)

I'm very fair, my heritage is Irish and German. Unlike EpcotSweetHrt, I don't tan, I burn.

The dress shop said that ivory was the best choice for me because I would look like casper:) I disagreed with them because I liked the white dress I was wearing and it didn't look that bright. In fact, it was an ivory dress and it wasn't obvious to me that it wasn't white until I had them next to each other. I thought ivory would be very yellow, but in the case of my dress, it isn't.

I'm pasty too :) I got a spray tan before the wedding, and although it was a bit faulty...my makeup artist fixed the white spot I had, and I looked sunkissed & hot! :cool1: My dress was ivory.

This is me trying it on in the salon (no tan)

Ivory it is!!!! If you have pale skin ivory looks gorgeous against your skin. You will look washed out in white.

Yay for ivory! That was my initial feeling...but you never know.

Thank you, my fellow fair skinned lovelies! :goodvibes

I have toyed with the idea of getting a spray tan....but it just makes me nervous. I've never done it... I've just done the self-tanner stuff at home. This never turns out good. I definitely don't want to look like an Oompa Loompa on my wedding day! :rotfl: But Amanda--your skin looked totally natural and gorgeous!! So perhaps I should re-think my tanning options...

glad this was posted as I was wondering the same thing...I went into my local Camille store just to look and think I like the Candlelight/Ivory type colour better than the white-which is good according to you guys as I am also very pale...but I have Dark Brown hair...the sales lady (who was pretty nice I have to say) told me you really can't tell until you have the dresses on, which colour looks best on you, so we'll have to see..

I have my first appointment on June 25 and then no more until late July...

Hey! I have a question for you all....how many appt/shops did you go to/are going to? Is like 5 too many? Opinions? Experiences?

Lori

No matter how pale you are, if you have yellow undertones in your skin, ivory may not be the color for you.

I am ghost-white, but all the ivory dresses I tried on made me look sallow and jaundiced. I got a dress in "diamond white" which is not stark white but is a bluer white than ivory.

Behold, the paleness.... :rotfl:

Oh, and I went to at least 12 shops and had as many appointments. There's no such thing as too many! :lmao:

It's true..until you know what undertone colors you have you won't know if you look best in white or ivory. Try on lots of different colors, you will know when you put the one on that looks best on your skin :)

Well I can't answer this question :goodvibes ...I'm hoping to get my dress shopping done online!! I may be dreaming...but I can't stand going to shops to try on dresses like that....which is totally strange since I LOVE shopping in general. Meh..I'm a weird one. :confused3

Ugh...I'm totally gonna have to go shopping.

How is it possible that I become positively giddy looking at everyone's dresses...but I'm terrified to find my own?! I think I'm missing some essential wedding-girl gene.

::crossing fingers:: the ivory online dress must work!!! :rotfl2:
