White NAACP Leader Who Passed As Black

I have to be honest in that I don't understand it. I think there are a lot of family issues going on here and I don't totally understand her parents motivation for coming forward now. She may be confused as she was raised with for adopted brothers who were black, and I believe they were her only siblings so I can understand her being confused about her racial identity and maybe thinking she really was black but didn't look it so she altered her appearance to look like she was. I just hope she finds peace with her family. I don't like watching family drama unfold on TV.

So if your parents adopted some black children, do you think you would be confused enough about it to think you were black?

If she really did get confused and thought she was black, how do you explain her suing Howard University for discrimination as a white woman?

1)As many people have said, her parents did not come forward. They were approached by the media.

2)She has an older biological brother so the adopted children are not her only siblings. Her parents adopted the other children beginning in the mid-90s according to what I have read putting her about 17 years old at the time so there is no reason she would be "confused".

She must have been reversed confused that day.

She wasn't totally befuddled about her true racial identity when she attempted to sue Howard University. The quote below is from her deposition.
http://abcnews.go.com/US/wireStory/rachel-dolezal-facing-questions-31851510

Lawyers pressed her to say if she had ever misled anyone into thinking she was black.

"I don't know that I could lead anyone to believe that I'm African-American. I believe that, you know, in certain context, maybe someone would assume that, but I don't know that I could convince someone that I'm a hundred percent African-American," she responded.

Asked to explain what she considers her own race to be, she said, "if you have to choose to describe yourself and you're able to give terms like a fraction or whatever but an overall picture, I consider myself to be Caucasian biologically."

Reporter ASKED them. They did not come forward.

Do you expect them to lie? Were they supposed to predict all THiS would happen?

How on earth would a near high school graduate be "confused" because her parents adopted children of a different race?

I have friends with adopted
Children--of different races.
They don't walk around confused their skin is a different color than it is.

So am I to believe the following:

Those who modify their appearance are "confused"? It used to be they just didn't like what they looked like and changed. They weren't "confused".

Don't like your nose? Get a nose job?

Don't like your hair color? Dye it.

Don't like your eye color? Contacts.

Don't like your skin color? Make up, bronzer, tanning salon, what ever.

Confused? No.

When I want to change my hair color, it is because I like another color better. There is no "confusion".

This family drama is her own doing.

I can't believe people think the parents are to blame for speaking to a reporter. If someone asks me if my daughter is my daughter, I am not going to deny her. Why would I?

She seems to need mental help. It is at the point that I cringe when I see her because the media eggs her on with her crazy thoughts. She isn't sure she is biologically her parents' child? That sounds like something a 9 year old would say when they are made at their parent.

........ or a liar trying to worm their way out of a jam.

Now she is saying that she had to be Black 'to survive'.

Survive?
Really????????

I want to post this: :rotfl:

But, seriously... Somebody please have this woman committed and get her some real help.

she also wasn't confused when she was fighting for child custody (her bio child) in 2005, she alleged abuse on the part of her husband and according to the legal documents-

"I noticed a bruise on Franklin's left eye after he returned from visitation with [Kevin]," adding, "Franklin is a child of blended ethnic decent [sic], and bruises are less noticeable on his dark skin than on that of a Caucasian child."

her ex husband is unquestionably black-so that would leave her to have provided the blending aspect of the child's ethnicity.

Again, so called 'ethnicity' being used in a legal battle, when convienient to get what she wants.

Good God, somebody needs to come up with a name for whatever insane mental disorder this woman is exhibiting.

Not a Dr, not an expert...but maybe something like borderline or bipolar. I hope she gets some help, whatever it is she has.

She was rambling on television yesterday or the day before about physical abuse while in South Africa with whips. When pressed whether she had in fact ever even been to South Africa she smirked and admitted she never has. That told me all I needed to know about her credibility. She is a lying liar who lies. It's not even slightly secret at this point, so anybody dealing with her should be well aware.

It doesn't take a doctor, it's merely running a conveniently convoluted series of cons, grifting.

The teepee thing is true to an extent, according to her mother, in that her PARENTS did live in a teepee for a few months while her mother was pregnant with her. (Like many folks their age, they have a hippy-ish past.) However, the teepee experiment ended before she was born.

The brother apparently petitioned to live with his sister at age 17, which in my book doesn't exactly add up to being raised by her. The article from a Los Angeles TV station goes into that issue at some length, though it mostly recounts an interview with one of her other brothers: http://ktla.com/2015/06/14/rachel-d...ppearance-blackface-says-she-had-secret-life/

I thought, she was a bit older, than her adopted siblings. Also, the parents were sought out by the media, not the other way around. I could be wrong, but that is my understanding.

I don't believe she is confused. I don't believe she is delusional. I don't believe she is mentally ill in a way that makes her actually believe her fabrications. I don't believe she identifies with another race.

I know for a fact she is a liar.

Look folks, it isn't that complicated. She is a con artist. She chose a role, set up the con and executed it. She went to elaborate lengths to do so.

She may be a narcissist. She may be sociopathic. She does not seem to care if she destroys others (even her family) in pursuit of what she wants.

Who thinks if there were to be a "whatever happened to?" story in a few years it would reveal an entirely new persona, probably with new name to boot?
