Does anyone know how to get white (from heat I think) marks out of an oak table? My mom said to rub mayo on it but it doesn't seem to be working. I've left it on for an hour and it's not doing anything except stinking up my dining room.

TIA!

i thought white marks were from moisture. Have you tried something like pledge.

no but i know how to get black marks out of underware

There is a product called Harrisons wood Cleaner. I think that's the name anyway.
You can find this stuff at Antique stores and it is amazing how it can take old faded wood and make it look brand new. It removes stains, white ring marks, and just generally restores all species of wood.

I might be wrong on the name but the store should know what I am talking about. There is a store here in Orlando that I have seen it at. Tomorrow I will be in that plaza and I will go in there and get the right name for you and then re post.

toothpaste sometimes gets white rings off wood. I tried it on DMIL's table a few years ago, and it really helped. Didn't get it all out, but reall cut down on the 'whiteness' of it.

I also used a wood restorer for my g'mas old bedroom set. She always had a small glass of water on the headboard shelf, and there was a black ring, and the restorer really took it off. It was a 3 step process, I think. I redid her headboard, footboard, chest of drawers and a triple dresser with the one kit. When DD came out of her crib, she had her great g'mas bedroom set

I got it at either Home Depot or Lowes.
