What are some good ideas for around $5?

I want the item to be somewhat, if not totally, useful. We're going to be picking numbers and you ideally want the last number b/c, as they #s progress, you can steal the gift from the people who went before you. Sounds like fun!

We did this at work last year, and the most stolen gifts were the bottles of wine (it was a $10 price limit). I'm not sure what you could get for $5.

Other ones, were a coffee mug with a small packet of flavoured hot chocolate.

$5 IS pretty hard to work with but Trader Joe's has a wine for ~$3 that's actually pretty good so that's a good suggestion. I was also thinking of a nice shower gel from B&BW w/a loofah. On sale I should be able to find something around $5.

Alcohol gifts have been huge at every exchange I've ever been to. For $5 I might look for a small bottle of good wine. World Market will have some that should be very close to that price.

One year I got kitchen towels that were holiday themed. They are something I would probably not buy myself but I love them and I use them every year.

$5 Starbucks cards were big at one office.

thats tough...if its all women...you could get 3 pairs of funky, fun panties from Charlotte Russe for $5....

In my family we do this but with tacky gifts. It's always a hoot. For a $5 budget here are a few ideas:

-Gift cards; McD's, Subway, Starbucks, Blockbuster Video, Baskin Robbins,
-Coffee mug with a flavored coffee or two inside (you can get the small single pots sample size at Safeway for cheap)
-Candy bars placed in a container of some sort
-Lotions or bath wash
-fun socks
-slippers (if find a good BF sale)
-scarf and mittens...check Walmart
-cheap wine...Beringer type
-candles
-stationary (tablet and pen)
-make-up bag with a few basic items (nail clippers, brushes, cheap nail polish, emery boards, etc....look for cheap or clearance)
-Cheap tool kit...look in dollar days sales bins at auto parts stores

Lottery Tickets (the scratch off kind).

We have a white elephant gift exchange coming up. DH got a big ball Christmas ornament filled with gourmet toffees for about $6. I picked up some glass drop prisms from an old chandelier at an antiques shop--they look like sparkly icicles! In fact, I liked them so much I bought 20 for myself.
