DH and I are thinking that we have had enough holiday stress this year and that next year we might just go away and leave the rest of the family behind.

Does anyone know anything about the Club Intrawest Blackcomb resort in British Columbia? It looks like it could be very pretty in the wintertime, and DH and I have only seen the portions of Canada that are close to us here in MI.

Any advice?

Thanks!

I don't know anything about Club Intrawest Blackcomb, but I want to know what your thread topic means. i must be dense 'cause I haven't a clue.

It's a great resort in a great area. Remember it's also available on the BVTC list where you can schedule directly using points for other than 7 day stay. It's been a long time since I asked how many points the CI resorts were and I don't recall anything about the amounts required. If you check, post the amounts.

I called MS this morning to get some info. I will try to recap:

Stays that are exactly 7 nights have to be booked through the II exchange according to the recently established chart. Mary at MS assumed that Christmastime would be "high season" because it is a ski resort. A 7 night stay can be booked between 10 months and 7 days in advance.

Stays of 6 nights or 8 or more nights can be booked between 7 months and 7 days in advance.

Stays of 5 nights or fewer can only be booked between 4 months and 7 days in advance.

The per point nightly cost would be 24 points for a studio and 44 points for a 1 BR. So, the new chart for a week seems to be a good deal, based on the per point breakdowns.

Off topic, I asked about the Stein Erickson Lodge and she said that Christmas and the days surrounding are usually blacked out as well as many other popular times during ski season (she rattled a bunch of dates between Jan - Mar).

I think you can request stays through II up to 24 months out but realistically you're looking at 12 months or closer to get anything. I actually have an internet friend that owns there and has been interested in a direct exchange in the past. Email me and I'll give you his information. I also have the points structure for CI Blackcomb around here somewhere, if you want to figure out when the highest levels are, that might help you. I assume they are actually paying cash for the non 7 day stays much like the CC.
