We have ADR's for our may trip at Whispering canyon. We are going for my DS 6th birthday. I would like to sit in the main area, can we request that we want to sit in the main area when we get there? I have read that it is the best (most fun) area to sit.
If we do request this what are the chances we will get it?
Thanks

There is no harm in trying to ask...they'll either say yes or no. We asked and were rudely told there were no tables as we were taken to our table in the back room; as we were taken to that table, we passed at least four or five tables, clean and without people, in the main room. It was just the beginning of many things that contributed to a very bad experience at WCC. Hope you have better luck.

That sucks!! maybe if we ask at check in?

Give it a try. Everyone has different experiences at WCC--some love it, some hate it.

I hope you get a table in the main room and that your son has a great birthday dinner.

hmmmm i never even knew there was a " back room" vs a " main room". We've eaten there 3-4 times and i never even realised there was a back room. Anyway, ask when making your adr's for a seat in the main room as you are celebrating a birthday for a child. Whether using the online booking system ( there is a place for special requests i believe) or on the phone. I think if you ask before you are being seated, they will do all they can to cater. I hope you aren't a shy family. We celebrated our 4 children's birthday there and our server made them hats out of cloth napkins and stuck straws in them. :rotfl:

The back room is pretty small. I think there were only 6 tables or so back there. Chances are good that you'll be in the main area.

Thanks, that makes me feel better. We have never been before and have just read from other posts that you don't want to sit in the back.

You should ask when you check in. Also, you probably have more chance of being in the main room if you are there at a less busy time. Last time we went, we were there right when lunch started and there were like 5 tables eating and all were in the main room.

I wish we had asked to wait for the main room, but I didn't know about the "back room" which is really not a room but a little open area that overlooks the lobby...great if you want dull. Our waitress did throw napkins and straws at us, but other than that....DULL..you can't see the fun at other tables and I know some were having fun because when we walked through tables had many many bottles of ketchup on them.

when you check in say you want to be in the main room and that you don't mind waiting for an open table. It has always worked fo me! Ask for Geno, he is an awesome server! Tell him 'miss Heather' sent you!

Thanks for all the suggestions. This make me feel better that we will be able to have a great birthday celebration for my DS!!!!

We asked and we were told we had to take the table available to us (part of the reason we won't go back to WL). We sat in the back room for two hours. I can tell you that we didn't miss anything, because the night we attended, there was NOTHING going on in the main dining room either except perhaps some straw throwing, and one calm happy birthday song. None of the "antics" everyone talks about went on that night.

We eat at WCC every vist and have never been sat in the back room.
In fact, till this thread I never even heard of it, so I'd say you have a excellent if not almost certainty of sitting in the main room.

We sat in the main room with a perfect table at the railing overlooking the lobby. That was the only good thing about our meal. Food stunk and waiter really stunk. Won't be going back ever!

I've eaten at Whispering Canyon many, many times...and the only time I've ever sat in the back room is when I asked to...Because we were meeting friends we hadn't seen in years and wanted to talk more than to be a part of the show!

That being said, our waiter still had great fun with us!

As I've said on the DIS here many times....I've never had a bad meal there.
