We are going to Whispering Canyon on my grandaughter's birthday. I have done an ADR for this. Does anyone know if they do anything special for birthdays?

Also, as we are staying offsite, is the resort gated and if so how do we get in? Do we have to have our reservation number handy? Thanks for your help.:thumbsup2

Just let the guy on the gate know you have a ressie at WC and he will give you a parking pass, no need to worry.

I remember when we were there in January that everyone sung happy birthday to someone. :confused3

If she likes attention, perhaps get her a birthday badge, and if she likes LOTS of attention, get her to wear a Universal T-shirt, ask for a refill on her drink and certainly make sure she wants some ketchup with her meal!!!:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

have a great time!!! :goodvibes (Ohh - and ask to be seated in the main dining room - that's what we are going to do, so that we don't miss out on any of the 'antics'!!:thumbsup2 )

When we went. The server made asked for all the boys in the room to come over to the table and sing her happy birthday. She was really embarrassed bless her. They put a candle in a muffin to celebrate her birthday.

I'm there soon with my sister and her family. Her husband doesn't like being fussed over or disturbed by waiters when he's having a meal......

So I'm letting them know it's his birthday!! :stir:

I was tempted to do that to my sister, LOL!

To the OP, we have always taken part in lots of Happy Birthday songs. Last year a dad had to rise around the room on a wooden pony singing happy birthday to his DD. He was told to make sure it was loud and clear or they would make him to it around the lobby! :rotfl:

It's a great place, have fun!

We dined at the Whispering Canyon Cafe last month and there were plenty of birthday celebrations going on. The servers made a huge fuss of anyone celebrating but be prepared to ride a hobby horse around the restaurant whilst singing out loud!

Unfortunately, my DH fell ill within a couple of hours after eating here so we would be reluctant to re visit in the future.

As for parking. We were staying off site and were waved through at the parking toll booth when we explained we had a dinner reservation. We forgot to take a driving licence with us and were ticked off (in a good humoured way) by the security guard on the gate at the Wilderness Lodge) - oops!

Thank you all for your replies, it sounds as if we made the right choice - great fun. I am all for joining in!!! Can't wait.:rotfl:

Here is a pic of what happens if you ask for ketchup

Matthew is horror struck at the amount of ketchup bottles heading his way !

Thanks for the pic Natalie. I had heard about the ketchup and I know my grandaughter and grandson too for that matter both intend to ask for some. God knows how many bottles we will end up with!!! :rotfl:

we had something like 14 bottles of ketchup lol.

Now that is CRUEL! :worship:

Be kind to him and ask for a seat in the "Library".

you might need to ask for some more straws and a large coke ;)

Certainly not a place for the faint hearted....I had a birthday meal there last year....good fun.

we went a couple of weeks ago and have been there many times before... but our server was soooo quiet.. he didnt do anything at all!

This was for breakfast and my friend said to me that they have had to tame it down in the morning as so many people who had rooms overlooking the lobby were complaining about the noise.

There was a couple of loud interactions whilst we were there (clearly not with our server... my son asked for ketchup and he bought him 2 bottles without any fuss... last time with hickory we had 27 bottles on our table!)..
but nothing more than that.. it was disappointing for DS8 as he had looked forward to it all trip!

Still.. if you can get in hickory's section.. she is such a scream! :)

Apparently dinner is more raucous than breakfast these days

My sister had her birthday badge on when we went to Whispering Canyon and at the end of the meal she got a cool cakey pudding. Actually she got two, but the servers ate the first one before she could get a look in :rotfl: It was a nice surprise as we hadn't asked for it.

She also got locked in "Canyon Jail" for stealing ketchup... lol
