How would we get to WC from POR? Is it REALLY worth it instead of Boatwright's? We have DS5 and DS2. WC sounds like more fun but Boatwright's is right in our resort. We will be at AK the day we choose this dinner. But I doubt seriously we will be there much past lunchtime. Thank you for all your help!

I"d say it worth it, but try to make an evening out of it. Go to the WL and look around, see the electric parade, geyser, etc. WC is a hoot for kids. The food is good (not great), but great for a big eater!! The fun is had for kids and adults alike. we never miss wc! As far as getting there, I'd take a bus to the MK and then the boat to WL. YOu could also take the boat to DD and then a bus to WL. It will definately take you a good 45 minutes I bet. Have Fun!

Boatwrights is a great restaurant, but Whispering Canyon is more of an experience. It is so much fun and I love the food! I love that I don't have to worry if my kids are getting a little noisy because it certainly isn't quiet in there. You should definitely try WCC. It is worth it - and like the previous poster said, make an evening of it by staying to watch to water pagaent and touring WL.

We are staying at POR also and dining at WC. We plan to take a bus to the MK and the boat to WL, after dinner, we are going to hit the evening EMH at MK. I hope that it goes smoothly! Good luck to you.

Whispering Canyon is lots of fun, due mostly to the antics of the servers. It's worth doing. Plus, seeing Wilderness Lodge is a nice thing to do, too. Your kids would like taking the boat from MK and seeing it that way. Even though we're not staying at WL on this trip, we're making a special trip just for Whispering Canyon--it was one of our favorites on the last trip.

My favorite question is: Which meal? We went for breakfast at both in March. We had a blast at both! Whispering Canyon is an experience and Boatwrights is more classy. We stayed at POFC. WE walked to POR along the water, it took 10 minutes tops! We bused to Whispering Canyon and that was worth it although it took more time. If I was to pick just one though, it would be Whispering Canyon because of the addition of the "show" by the waitstaff.

We loved the food and the fun. If you are pressed for time in getting there...the bus from MK is much faster than taking the boat (although definitely not a picturesque) We ate dinner at WC and then took the boat to the MK for the fireworks. Returned back to the resort by way of the bus.

Just a note for younger children. The antics with the ketchup can be really confusing for toddlers. A young one next to us was overjoyed to get 30 bottles of ketchup but really had a meltdown when the table was swarmed a few minutes later and the ketchup all disappeared. Thankfully for him, some of the kids noticed his upset and tried to return a few of the bottles but it did upset him for a while !

My personal opinion is that Boatwrights is just okay. It really wasn't anything special when I was there last. Whispering Canyon is a lot of fun (just don't ask for ketchup <wink>) and I like the food much better

We had the same dilemma for our last trip in Jan 2006. My kids are 6 and 8 though. They really enjoyed the pony races and silliness BUT it was not among their favorites mainly because it was bright, noisy, and crowded. Our 3 adults enjoyed the food but didn't get to enjoy the resort too much because it took forever for us to get there from PO-FQ. At that point in the evening MK busses were running further apart and we had just missed one by a few minutes. Once we got to the boat to WL there was a massive line there because of people going to Hoop De Doo Revue. All told it took a good 2 hours to get there and we had to run through the resort to not be too late. After eating my mom and DH had upset stomachs so we took a cab back (around $10 and 10 minutes) which wouldn't work for toddlers/car seats.

We are planning on going in Jan 2007 and we are going to be more relaxed and go to Boatwrights this trip. The kids will enjoy the stroll or boat ride and after dinner we can take the boat to DTD. Boatwrights always seems to get pretty good reviews. If whatever sale comes out for Jan is good we may switch resorts to WL in which case we'd eat at WC though. For us not dealing with a big travel ordeal with kids is worth not eating at the "ideal" place.

If your interested only in food - go with Boatwrights. If your interested in a fun atmosphere with crazy waitstaff - go to Whispering Canyon. Personally we always have preferred Boatwrights, but we are low-key @ breakfast. Enjoy either way!

Definetely Whispering Canyon :thumbsup2 We ate dinner there and loved it - the skillet was wonderful, the kids (DD 6, DS 4 and DS2) had fun and when they were a little loud, no one else noticed. They allowed the bottomless milkshake to count as a drink, offered my DH ice cream with his dessert, the service was great and overall a wonderful meal.

We also stayed at POR and although we didn't eat dinner at Boatwright's, we did eat breakfast there and it was the only really dissapointing meal of our 7 days 6 nights - poor, non existent service, a CM who said that since it was breakfast we didn't get a starter (appetizer) on the meal plan so we used 4 TS Creidts for a meal that would have cost about $30 total and we were still hungry when we left :rolleyes1 We would have paod OOP or left, but it was our last day and it was pouring and we didn't fell like going anywhere else. The food itself was just okay - not as good as the food court. It might be better for dinner but it's definetely a place I wouldn't try again.

Have a great trip whatever you decide.

You can also get to WL by taking the boat or bus at POR to Downtown disney then take the WL bus from there. Might be shorter than MK to WL.
