I just booked Whispering Canyon for lunch and was wondering if there was a big difference between lunch and dinner as far as the skillets goes:confused3 . We have never been there before and I thought it would be a great place to take DS for his birthday.:bday: Please tell me what your thoughts are. Thanks so much for your help!:flower1:

dunno for food, but HUGE difference in ambience. i won't eat at WCC for any other meal than dinner.

We ate there for dinner, not impressed with service or food. Took 2 1/2 hrs for a party of 10.

Food not impressive at all....lots of it but quality stinks. You'll gain 2 lbs of water weight if your salt sensitive. Kids love it....LOUD, sometimes fun with a group but annoying when your tired!

Wow, maybe I've made a bad choice. The food looked really good. Is there less interaction with the kids at lunch compared to dinner?:confused3 I had Tony's scheduled but those reviews were really negative too. So which is worse? I'm wanting to try some different places to eat and were celebrating DS 8th birthday too so I thought this place may be fun. We're having breakfast at CM for his b-day and we're also eating at Garden Grill. Thanks for the info and any more help you may have:thumbsup2

Hey,
We love it there and think the food is pretty darn good too! It's not gourmet but good family fare! The skillet is hearty and plentyful.
It's worth tring at least once!

Whatever you decide, have wonderful trip!!

while it's not the highest quality food, we had an absolute BLAST there! our waitress was so much fun and we were laughing hysterically the entire time. we made straw hair accesories and they had all the dads get up and do an embarrassing dance.

i know there used to be a whole thread on tricks and tips to make it even more fun.

so, in the end, i HIGHLY recommend it for dinner, i'm not so sure if it's quite as much fun at lunch time.

DS might like Sci-Fi for Lunch. What about rentind a pantoon boat at one of the MK resorts and have a picnic lunch in front of the MK...they will even decotare the boat if you would like.pirate:

We've eaten at WCC every trip for dinner. DH calls it the Wagon Wheel (not sure why we call it that)..perhaps because the food is served on a wheel? :confused3 He's weird.

Anyway, I find the food fine (not bad, not great), but it's the entertainment that we really like a lot. Plus, you can't beat just visiting the WL..I could spend a day just sitting in the lobby. :)

I thought I had all my ADRs figured out weeks ago and then... what about Whispering Canyon??:rolleyes2 I called and the earliest dinner they had for the week we are there was at 8:20. So I took a 1:00 lunch instead. I hope it's fun during this time for my DS. DH and I are both somewhat quiet;) but DS loves to have fun! So maybe lunch would fit us better. Also, I've been looking for an excuse to go and check out WL for next years trip:thumbsup2 . Does anyone know if it's still pretty "loud" at lunch? Thanks everyone for your help!!:thanks:

We've never been to WCC. From reading the comments I'm assuming the waiters provide some kind of entertainment? Is it similar to 50's Prime Time Cafe? Please tell me about this place.

WCC is one of our favorite TS that we go to. Last trip we ate there for Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner. Lunch seemed a little more subdued than dinner. At the dinner there was pony races and it was a bit louder, but it was a LOT more fun. We have ADRs there for dinner when we go in June because my ILs will be with us and they are just as loud and obnoxious as some of the waitstaff there....they have no idea that we are taking them, so the look on their faces when will be priceless...especally if they ask for ketchup. :rotfl:

All in all, the food is excellent there. The all you can eat skillet is something that cannot be missed. Also, you have to try one of their bottomless milkshakes...I have never had a milkshake as thick as theirs before YUMMMY!!!!:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Exactly, we liked it so much in Sept 2006, we are going again this year! it was the 1st rest. my kid sugessted this time around :thumbsup2

We love the WC! We always eat there for breakfast on the morning we head out and we usually eat dinner there at least once. We've never eaten lunch there so I can't compare lunch and dinner but we do love breakfast and dinner.

Not only is the food really good (I love the meatloaf and dh loves the skillet) but the overal atmosphere is fun. I have a sil that didn't like it because she didn't care for the noise level. It can be quite loud in there for dinner but the CM's are a blast.

We've eaten there three times.

For atmosphere, it's very loud due to yelling for ketchup, pony races, and other sounds you'll hear. The servers all bang the tray holders on the wooden floors. This echoes throughout the place. So if you want quiet, it's not for you.

Your "experience" varies depending on the server. We had one fantastic server a couple of years ago, but this last time, there was very little in the way of silliness. Our food was mediocre. We've decided not to go back. It's not awful, and sometimes it can be fun, but don't expect too much because they've obviously and significantly toned it down since our previous visit.

lunch is MUCH more subdued for lunch. which is why i'd only go for dinner. and i wouldn't be going necessarily for the food, but for the ambience (although the food isn't bad in my experience).

ironically, scifi dine in (another i love) is notorious for getting bad raps on its food and service (not that i had a problem with either)

I have never eaten at WCC but any restaurant is going to get both positive and negative reviews. I will also tell you that DH and I ate at Tony's and loved it! Beautiful view ... very good service. Food was good (ok - it is NOT NYC Italian good but filling). Just thought I would put my two cents in. I hope you have fun wherever you eat! :thumbsup2

We ate at WC during Thanksgiving...the last time we had eaten there was about 8 years ago. My family absolutely HATED the entire experience. The service was terrible; our waitress was rude and the food was just OK. It was our only unpleasant experience. I think if you have small children it would be fine....they would enjoy the over the top foolishness. My adult children could not wait to get out of there. We will be staying at the WL on our next vacation and I was warned not to even think of making a reservation at WC.
