I have read some mixed reviews about this place, I suppose alot has to do with you server.. But overall is the food pretty good?

I think my kids would love it, but my DH will probably hate it. He doesn't like any attention drawn to him. WE will not be on the DDP either.

I have a question about sharing, the bottomless shakes can't be shared right? But is it ok for the kids to try ours or vice versa? OR is that considered sharing still.
Thanks for any input :)

I have done Whispering Canyon in October of 06 and in September of 07. It was much better the first time. It is not on our list for our next trip.
Both times I shared my milkshake with my girls (but they are 2 1/2).

We ate at WCC in May...the food was out-of-this-world good....however, our server (Oopsie Daisy) was terrible...no refills on drinks, no refills on skillet, we had to ask for desert at least 4 times and finally flagged down the manager to ask that it be boxed to take with us because we had already sat for over 2 1/2 hours at the table (without eating desert or getting a bill, mind-you), we had no action at or around our table (no fun antics). I know this issue was with the waitress and not the restaurant. I would recommend you giving it a try...the food alone is worth the trip in my opinion. What ever you do, have fun and EAT MUCH!!

Do you like BBQ? I would really make the decision based upon whether or not you like the food that is being served. We went one night because it was raining and we were staying at WL. We're not into the interactive stuff, but our server was very nice and didn't take it to far. Aside from the awesome mashed potatoes, everything else was just kind of eh... I just don't like that kind of food.

Oh....but there is so much more than BBQ style food...my husband had some sort of apple-glazed pork chop dinner (I am not sure it is there anymore though...that was in May)...meatloaf, peel & eat shrimp, pasta, roasted chicken, etc...you can find some really interesting dishes that are out of this world! klinlin, sorry you did not like Whispering Canyon...maybe the menu will change your next visit and you will find something more to your liking....again, for us it was so much more than BBQ.

Perhaps I should have said do you like the menu? I am not a big meat eater. I got the steak. It was fine, but not memorable. My husband got the skillet, and it left him feeling kind of overwhelmed by BBQ. In fact, it was the only place he requested not to go back to this year.

To each his own, I'm not saying there is a thing in the world wrong with the food, just that it is not our style. If the menu appeals to you, then the trip to WL is worth it. If not, save your $$ for somewhere else.

DH & I ate there 2 years ago on the DDP & absolutely loved it. We weren't in the main dining room, but out on the outer area overlooking the lobby. It was great. We didn't do the skillets but ordered regular meals off the menu. You could hear all the fun stuff going on in the main dining room, but we were definitely glad not to be in there. We loved the people watching we could do from the other dining area. Our waiter was great, very attentive & the food was fantastic!!

We ate there for the first time last month. I actually found our server a bit over the top for my tastes. The food was OK. The prime rib was WAY too smoky and I could not eat it. Ended up sharing meat-loaf with DD - which was quite tasty. The restaurant was PACKED and VERY VERY VERY noisy! Appetizers were very good and had desserts boxed to go.

Would we go back - probably. But would not be one of those "must-do" restaurants for us.

We really like to eat there for breakfast. The breakfast skillet is 10.99 per person and it's all you can eat. Best value anywhere and very good. You get bacon, sausage(like kelbosa), homestyle potatoes, scrambled eggs, and biscuits.

JMO, but this is one of my least favorite restaurants at Disney...
My sis and I went for lunch, and I was underwhelmed, to say the least. The food was just ok, IMO, and there was no action at all around our table. Personally, I didn't care, but for a restaurant that focuses on rowdy fun, it was lacking! I do believe it depends on the server, tho, because across the restaurant, I could see and hear other fun activities. And, the server did not return to check on us either, to refill our drinks, etc.

Sorry, I did not mean to sound like I was arguing...just wanted the OP to know that there is more than BBQ style food and make their decision based off of that. Again, sorry for the misunderstanding...no hard feelings, I hope:flower3:

Thanks to everyone's input, it looks like this might be the type of place to try and least once! I do like BBQ also.. It sortof seems tho for the most part that any disney restaurant doesn't have the greatest food overall. I am sure there are exceptions but speaking overall.

We visited WCC the beginning of October this year for the first time and really enjoyed it.

Our party was my parents (both in their 60's) me (40 ish ;) ) and my niece
(13). Our server was Matt and boy was he a hoot :rotfl2: It was worth the visit just to be served by him.

The food was ok - we were really boring and all had cheeseburgers, we shared a starter and couldn't manage dessert because we were all too full.

Throughout our lunch there was a great deal of interaction with the servers and guests and most people were up for the different things that were going on.

I must admit that I did have reservations about going because of some of the reviews I had read but I am glad that we did go now. I think most places should be tried at least once. You never know you might really enjoy it :thumbsup2 We would definately go back again - all of us said what a great lunch time we had.

We took the kids in August and they loved it (their first time there). All of our food was very good and Cowgirl Candi is over the top as far as servers goes. DH and I have had her before and she made us dance for the restaurant since we didn't invite anyone there to our wedding.

We went in 2006 to WC based on the rave reviews on the Board. We didn't enjoy it at all - the only thing that we liked about it is that WCC introduced us to the WL.

So in 2007 while staying at the WL :goodvibes we were mid-monsoon, and just hanging in the lobby and didn't want to move so I cancelled our ADR for that evening and we decided to eat at WCC. Once again, we hated it. We enjoy BBQ, meats all that stuff, but we found the food too smokey tasting (we don't like smoked BBQ, we like more sweet bbq).

Both times our servers were horrible, but that didn't ruin it for us - it was just that we didn't enjoy the food at all. YMMV

Give it a try. I was also hesitant about going here because dear husband hates attention.

We ate their this past Sunday and had a great time. Husband actually enjoyed it and we had lots of laughs with the antics going on. Our server was Kim and she was really great. DH and I ordered the skillet for two and DS had a kids meal of chicken strips and pasta.

Below is a pic of our waitress Kim after singing Happy Bday to DS4 along with everyone in the restaurant. She made him stand on top of the chair so they could see him and he really enjoyed it.

The food is "eh", but the entertainment value is worth it (especially if you go with either young kids or someone who's never been there and isn't familiar with it.............just don't tell them beforehand :rotfl: ). If it's just DH and me, we don't bother. :)
