Whispering Canyon (opinions)

We thought the food was great and my daughter loved riding the stick horses around restaurant. They do that at the top of each hour.
However, it did get a little old signing happy birthday every 10 minutes during the meal. I mean its great to sing for someone, but after a while we were like ENOUGH ALREADY!

I found the restaurant really fun and we had a party ranging from 16 yo cousin to my 85 yo grandmother. It was a hoot. As for riding the stick horses, my 50+ yo uncle and I joined the kids and thought it was a lot of fun also.

Every time we stay at WL we end up eating breakfast there 3-4 times. It's a great place for breakfast. The food is really good, and it's a little quieter than dinner but still lots of fun. Maybe those who are a little scared about the loudness and the antics could try breakfast there first. We've always had great service and great meals. The kids love it, and my son looks forward to the pinecone waffles on every trip.

We went this September and it was so, so. Our waiter was a big dud but we did enjoy watching the other tables have fun. We also were charged for our children (although they were two and weren't supposed to be charged) and the waiter said that he had to charge them. It was a hearty portion of food. The salad dressing was good, the BBQ so, so. It was an expensive meal for us. (80 bucks after tip) for the all you can eat and it was really only two of us that ate.

It took forever for the bus to come and take us back to the TTC (we should have ridden the boat to the MK and then go to the Poly from there). We don't plan on going there again.

On the plus side, the kids enjoyed the lincoln logs to play with at the front.

We have PS's for 2/14 at WC (not the most romantic, but it should be a lot of fun!). Other than the ketchup and water, what other things should we request to make the meal more fun?
...or, rather, a particular COLOR crayon! (tee-hee!)

Yes, this was the longest I have *ever* waited for a bus at WDW, in fact almost an hour. We loved the boat ride over, and if I ever do give in to the kids and try WC again, I'll plan to use the boats both ways.

ok. i'll bite. why should i ask for....

ketchup
large drink
directions to universal
where the men's room is
a certain color crayon
napkins

what happens?

Whispering Canyon is not for the one who is easily offended or annoyed! My kids and family had a wonderful time and WC will be on our must do list forever! DS7 is extremely shy and doesn't really fit in with the rest of the family. :teeth: After a 5 minute staring standoff with our waiter (wish I could remember his name) DS7 still refused to speak to order his drink. By the end of our dining experience our waiter managed to break the shell, just see for yourself below.

Well worth it!

To enjoy WC you need to go with the idea that you are going to have fun and go along with all the antics. We had constant interaction with the waiter and other members of the staff. To begin with, all we had to do was open our mouth. Our accent got him going immediately and he mocked us the whole time. We could've been offended by his reaction to our southern charm, however, we are just not like that. At the end when he brought our ticket he asked if we had another card. I think our hearts stopped and everything we had done that day raced through our minds. This was our first day there and my biggest fear was that something would go wrong with our debit cards and we would be stuck down there with no money. My daughter quickly got another one ( afraid of what kind of "scene" he would make).. He then opened up the folder and said sign this please and stuck the second card in his pocket and informed us he was going shopping with that one. We could have shot him. I almost had a heart attack. There were other things that went on but I don't want to let out all the "secrets". Go and have a lot of fun, play along and it will be a very memborable experience for you and your family. Oh, we really enjoyed the food also.

Our family also loves WC. We have had dinner there twice, and I just made a breakfast ps today for our upcoming trip.

I will give one small spoiler - our waiter (Chris B Corny) overheard my dd say she was cold -- we didn't even know he was around -- and her brought her a big blanket, like the kind they have on the beds at WL. It was so funny, as my dd was so happy. She is always cold in restaurants.

We also go with the attitude others have mentioned, to have fun and HOPE we can be a part of some of the jokes, but it is fun to watch others as well. We have never been disapointed.

We had dinner here after my DDs were all pumped up after watching the Travel chanel/. Well, it sucked for lack of a better term. NO INTERACTION which is what we were here for. Same ribs as in Tomorrowland. IMHO, can be great with the right CM we weren't that lucky.....

LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE it!!!!!!! The food is great (I thought though maybe a tad on the expensive side for what I care to spend) and have enjoyed every minute I've been there!!! Highly recommended!

We love Wispering Canyon. I would take the boat from Cr or Mk, it is a very nice ride.
The boat is very nice from the CR to the WL especially on a nice day, once at the WL you can either take the boat back to CR or go right to the MK. Just watch the flags on the boat, for which one goes where. Most of the time we take the boat from the WL to go to the CR to Chef Mickeys then hop the monorail to the MK or EPCOT.

DVC members at VWL. See a lot of Whispering Canyon operation & have for four years. Used to eat there. In early December the "good fun" became a huge noise. At VWL all of January and even the registration staff was becoming shell-shocked from the huge uproar at Whispering Canyon. It never ended -- continuous. Used to be you'd go in, order food & there would be an "entertainment" every hour-or-so. Now it's continuous. Don't go there to eat.

We took the kids there on our first day last trip and we LOVED it. We had fun with the waiter, enjoyed the food, and it set the right mood with the kids. We have four, ages 13 to 1, I think the 13 year old immediately understood that he could be silly and have fun and it was cool. I think it was the perfect start to the trip. Plus we loved the food and the kids actually ate!
That said, DH and I are going alone for an anniversary trip and we will not be going there, it isn't the place for romance, to say the least!

We found that it changed also. Years ago, it was great for a few laughs. Last year, it was constant noise. While the food is good, we won't go back.

We thought the food was EXCELLENT. yes it was a bit noisy, yes we didn't have ALL the joking experience (busy waiter I guess) but we loved the food and we loved the ambience of the resort so we will definitely go back. The bottomless milkshake is one of the best deals on Disney property too. Expensive, yes. Food Quality A+++. Service A++. Scenery A++++ why wouldn't we go back. LOL And I can guarantee you won't leave hungry. Hopefully next time my girls will participate in the horse races. It was very cute.

On one occasion, my son had to go to the restroom, so I went with him. Now *I* didn't have to go, just him. So, when we come back, the waiter asks where we went. I told him and he asks me what color the soap was. I said I didn't know. He yells out "He went to the restroom and doesn't know what color the soap was!!"

Now that is funny!!!!! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl

It depends on your server. Some are more outgoing than others and like to do some friendly teasing. The ketchup "trick" is widely done (you'll get more ketchup bottles at your table than you could use in a lifetime).

Whispering Canyon has all kinds of funny tricks to pull on people, but it's all intended in good fun. If you want a server who is a little toned down or one that is really into the fun and antics, just ask when you check-in.

Food looks amazing, whats best way to ger there from GF, can u go by boat there n back?? easy trip?
