Has anyone eaten dinner at Whispering Canyon lately? I have just looked at the menu on allearsnet (just updated) and it seems seriously cut back to what it used to be. Further evidence of the Dining Plan's impact? Nachos have gone, fish of the day gone, no pork chops, Canyon veggie plate is no longer... and the skillet now has peel-and-eat shrimp (??) Anyone eaten there lately..we have reservations in two weeks! Thanks

Updating this thread as some people are getting a bit concerned about the new menu. Has the lunch menu changed? Can you still get the children's skillet at lunch?

I ate there in May & the menu was still the same....we had the nachos as one of our appetizers. :thumbsup2

I hope they haven't been taken off since then.

I ate there in June, and I was not impressed with the platter. The chicken was greasy and had absolutely no seasoning on it. My husband got the chipolte pasta with chicken, and there were only four little pieces of chicken in it. The nachos were the best thing we had that evening. I would not return to WCC. Our waitress was also pretty boring so it was pretty much a waste for us. Could have gone to Trails End, and had a better experience with the same food options only more vegtable choices.

We ate there July 9. Not overly impressed with the meals. I had the pasta dish, very little chicken on it and the sauce was funky. My hubby liked his prime rib but all in all nothing "WOW". Sorry!

just got back ate there sunday, i had the skillet no more sasuage, the peel and eat shrimp was BAD mushy sandy no flavor ,chicken bad no flavor greasey, te pulled pork was good as was my first set of ribs my second set of ribs was all fat and over cooked over all it was o.k. i had higher expectations.

I definatly will cancel this one I was having a hard time deciding which one to cancel - and now I know. No Nachos - how lame!

So is the lunch menu still the same? Allears still had the nachos on the lunch menu.

Think I'll be cancelling after reading these opinions of the food. What a shame. It's going the same way as too many WDW eateries. When I think back to pre-dining plan days....

Yes - I checked, and the lunch menu is from May while the dinner menu is from July. The May lunch menu is far better then the July dinner menu. I hope they know what they are doing. I hate all this changing (for the worse) of the WDW menus. Where's it going to end?

I was just there the first week of July, and I'm sad to announce there were no nachos. I've been reading these boards / menu's, and really had my heart set on them. Much to my dismay, they weren't there. It was now chips / salsa / and cheese that strangely tasted like heated CheezWhiz. DH got the skillet, and there were peel and eat shrimp. Now DH usually loves shrimp, but didn't eat this because it was too much work, and wasn't the nice usual "clean" shrimp. I had never been to WCC before, but was disappointed all in all. I believe it was a combination of being seated in the side room, having a waitress that engaged in barely any of the antics, and food that wasn't there that was on the menus I had previously read. :confused3

OH!!!!

I have a dinner reservation here for late August and this thread is REALLY not making it sound very good. I hate to try and find somwhere else this late in the game....are there ANY recent positive reviews?????

the nachos are still on the lunch menu and i have a lunch ADR. my son will still enjoy it.

The lunch menu hasn't been updated for 2 months though, as far as we know the lunch menu is also changed. Has anyone been there for lunch in the last week or so to update us?

GAH

I had my family chage res's to go to this place because of all the positive things I heard on this board about it. Should I just scrap the rez and go someplace else. We orignaily were going to go to tony's in MK.

I was thinking the same thing. I have an ADR here for the first week in October, but it looks like we may need to come up with a plan B.

I checked allears for some recent reviews and they were not all bad. Seems people feel a bit rushed with the "delivery" of the food. Many said "salty" but most seemed to enjoy it, so...
I'm hoping for the best and keeping our ADR, it is DISNEY after all and it's a free meal, so HEY, whatever!!! :rotfl2:

We have an ADR here for our trip in Aug. - when we went last year it was one of the meals we enjoyed the most. Now, with all the negative feedback, I'm also wondering if we should try to cancel. I'm not sure if we could get another ADR this late in the game. We are also eating at 'Ohana's for the first time, so I feel if we give up WCC we still have one fun family atmosphere restaurant the kids will enjoy.

The decision will be if we can get another ADR where should we try? I'm not sure I can handle the pressure so close to our departure date!!

I understand having some reservations about eating here, but some of you on the fence on whether to go or not are basing it on less than 15 people not having the same experience they had the last time they went. My guess is that it's probably still pretty good and if the people who were not quite as happy with their meal this time really had to say was it better than a night out at their local restaurant of choice they would still say it was better. Just a guess though. I'd just hate to see people who have never gone before decide not to eat there based on so little feedback.

So much of the allure to Whispering Canyon is the interaction with the servers and where you're seated. But if you go in planning to have fun no matter what, I'm sure you'll have a great Disney meal. I know we're not changing our plans for our trip in November. But I do appreciate the feedback we're getting from those who have gone recently.

Now if they take away the bottomless milkshake I'm coming back on here and blasting them to smitherines...:)

I just looked at the menu and am so very disappointed with the new one. Fresh fish and steak are both gone which would have been our choices. To Be Honest we were going for the kids fun factor but looks like nothing on the menu they or we would want and these reviews is making me wonder if we should do ADR at Concourse steakhouse that night instead? We went 2 years ago and it was good, last year service was bad but food was still good. Anymore input is great we are just not ribs and meatloaf people. We have plenty of Character meals planned so the kids would be fine Help with idea's as we are already doing O'hana, Spoodles, Kona Cafe, Chef mickey's, Play and Dine B'fast, Crystal Palace, Norway Princess Dinner and Coral Reef. Need another meal close to Mk and don't care for Tony's and LTT doesn't appeal to us food wise. Thanks
