We are leaving in 9 days with another couple. Well, my friends hubby is a jokester. This will be their first trip to DW. We know about the "catsup" and something about the straws but what else can u tell me that can be done to tease my friends hubby? Want to get him good. : ). Thanks all.

When we were there they drug a lady from her table in her chair to another table and made her sit with strangers. It was funny.

Tell him it's a formal place and he needs to wear a tie.

I dropped my fork on the floor and when I asked for another, they brought one over that was like, 3 feet tall!
And my father is a jokester himself, and loves making (what he thinks) funny comments (we roll our eyes, lol) and after a few of his comments the waitress brought over the front of a jail with bars (again, like 3 feet tall). It was HYSTERICAL. :rotfl2:

Go with the mindset that you're open to having a good time, but don't expect it. After a long time of planning and anticipating Whispering Canyon we were so disappointed. We tried to encourage the antics by wearing Universal Studios t-shirts, asking for Pepsi and ketchup...we tried everything we could think ok of. The servers just wouldn't bite. They were the most boring group I ever saw. After failing to get our server in on the jokes we started stopping other servers as they passed our table to ask for a refill of Pepsi or some ketchup. They would just tell us to wait a moment and they'd send our server to our table.

Along with the most boring servers ever we also had very slow service. And the restaurant was not very busy. There were several empty tables. It took a long time to get our food. I might try the place again. I'm sure we had an off-day. But don't go expecting to have a joking around great time. You might be disappointed.

Thank you everyone....will check out the menu on all ears for more suggestions. Hope we get a good server who likes to play tricks! : )

We had that experience at 50s Prime Time...yawn.

But at Whispering Canyon, we have always had a goof, fun time. Ally was our server this last time and it was the best. I think they have gotten complaints so they have toned things down a bit.

Ask for a refill, they will bring a huge one. the kid at the next table dropped his knife, Ally brought him a 3ft tall one.

When we were there they made everyone get up and sing Happy Birthday to anyone celebrating. They made us wave our napkins. They did the pony races.

But the best was when they made us get up and do the Hokey Pokey, and yes EVERYONE had to get up. DS15 and DH both thought it was great and got into it.

My DH was really thirsty and pretty much drank his entire soda as soon as our waitress set it down. He didn't even get the chance to ask for a refill before this was placed in front of him!!! I almost died :lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:!

Ahhh reading all of this is so disappointing to me! We went to the Whispering Canyon in July, and our waitress was seriously lacking personality. She didn't joke around with us or ANYTHING, and was extremely unenthusiastic. However, the waitress over at the next table caught me looking over at her and she started screaming at me asking what I was looking at. It was pretty funny :rotfl:

I think you have some previous guests to blame. I have seen people complain on here about it being too crazy and I have heard people saying they want a quiet table or no antics. I mean WHY would you go to a place when you KNOW that is there schtick. It is one thing if you went there unknowingly.

Those in the know who wanted a good, but quiet WCC experience used to ask for a table in the back, behind the fireplace... do they still do that?

Dirk is a great server. He's loud and will play with guests. He'll bring out big drinks, big straws, push guests around in chairs, etc. He's a good fit for that restaurant.

Yep. We had the most boring server ever. She did nothing, yet all these people around us had tons of straws, a million bottles of ketchup, big jars of drinks etc. Our kids were so bored that they asked if we could skip the "normal restaurants" from now on and just do character meals.

They really DO some of this stuff? :crazy2: I'd read about this place, but I honestly didn't believe it. I enjoy having a good time (I loved Farrell's back when they brought out the base drum at every opportunity), but this is just WAY over the top. I think we can take this one off our list of "try eventually" places.

I can see why people might complain, at least if they didn't know ahead of time. If somebody told me I had to stand up and do the Hokey Pokey, or move to a different table to sit with strangers, it would be a memorable occasion indeed -- and not in a good way.

I've been to WC about 5 times and have had different outcomes. 1st was about 7 years ago for lunch, the waitress wasn't into it but, I didn't know jusg how fun the place would could get!

That evening, after me ranting and raving about the cornbread, dad, stepmom and I headed there. My stepmom asked for a little water and she got a TINY glass with a 3 foot straw! When she asked for a little more our server came out with a HUGE jar and a tiny straw... it was a hoot!

Last year, I went 3 times on 3 seperate vacations. First one was with my mom and our waitress was hysterical! Even made a big deal when we didn't finish the Canyon Skillet but ordered dessert.

Next vacation was for dinner, dad, stepmom and my grandparents. We had a boring server, may as well have gone to a Denny's.

Next vacation was for stepdad's birthday, mom and I loved it so much, we took him and had SOME schtick... especially when he asked for extras.

This year, in August, My best friend and I went, it was the BEST experience! It was for dinner, we had he coolesf server. (Sorry, forget his name! :-() He's the one I'd seen before that heckles guests and does bird noises.

First, my BFF was sitting down as I went to the restroom, the place was full so I had to try to find her... when I did, he pulls my chair out, next to my bff. "Cause you were late I sat you right in the middle so I can watch you! How could you leave your friend alone?! You get to sit right next to her so you can gossip!" Through dinner he would poke our shoulders and disappear before we could catch him. One time, I sas him sneaking up and he was like "wasnt me!"
We got the skillets and when we ordered more cornbread, he brought us TWO LOAFS! More water and my friend got a tiny cup with a large straw. When my friend (who doesn't eat a whole lot) didn't reorder... he deamed her "high maintenance" in a funny tone which had us cracking up. We took part i the Hokie Pokie, teenaged kids thag "misbehaved" were forced to do the pony races alone. LOL!!

When we ordered dessert he brought one spoon. "Sorry, too tired to wash another one... just share!" And then he walked around and gave us another.

It was a greaf time and I left him a VERYh good tip.. which, when he saw, he huddled between us... "you wanna come back later?.... seriously thank you and enjoy your time here."

So there you go! Different takes. :-)

Ask for a refill, they will bring a huge one.
I can attest to this. Several years ago I ate there and I'm a big drinker...not necessarily alcohol just always drink alot with meals. After 2 regular refills they brought me a huge glass that had to hold a half gallon of soda. AND when the server put it on the table, she pulled over a chair, stood up on it, got the attention of everyone in the restaurant and proceeded to say the following:

"May I have everyone's attention? This gentleman (pointing to me) is on his 3rd drink of the evening. Here's the glass he's currently drinking out of and he says he plans to finish it. Later this evening, if you happen be in the resort pool with him...SWIM THE OTHER WAY!"

Needless to say, my family got a big kick out of that. WCC is lots of fun and I look forward to going back on my trip in January. Have fun!

we've noticed that dinner time seems to be more lively with regards to the CM's rather than lunch time.

Ask him to order a skillet with pulled pork on it - the joke will be on you:crazy2:

We have seen the above antics and I enjoy this restaurant. My DH not as much. The last trip a man at the next table was on his cell phone talking to - I think his mother- and the waiter told him he was on it too long and to give him the phone. The waiter proceeded to talk to this fellows mother for the longest time! It was so funny. :goodvibes
