Has anyone been to both? Would you say the food is pretty much the same?

We're definitely going to Hoop Dee Doo, but we're trying to decide on Whispering Canyon. I've read many reviews lately where it's not as much fun as it used to be, which makes me wonder - Is it similar to Hoop Dee Doo? Is it worth doing, or should we not bother making the trip over there?

I hafta say, without qualification, that the food is better at WCC. Hoop-De-Doo's food is cooked for the masses, and isn't at all bad. But certainly at WCC you'll have more variety and better preparation.

We haven't been to WCC for over a year, so I can't speak to the "calmer" atmosphere. Both places are "frontierish," and since you're going to HDD anyway, you might take a look at other options.

We'll go back to WCC this Thanksgiving ... I'm really curious to see what changes have taken place.

The HDDR and WC are very different. The menus are not similar, HDDR is all you can eat bbq ribs and fried chicken, baked bean, corn on the cob... It has been a while since I have been to WC but their menu is more diverse(not sure they even have fried chicken), you can chose between the family style skillett or many other menu items. While the HDDR is a show(the same one since it started) WC is more about the atmosphere created by the waiters and customers, so it is never the same place twice. If you can I would do both since they both have great food and are such fun.

We love both. If you're concerned about two bbq-esque meals have WCC for breakfast. Its one of our faves.

We recently did both. I prefer HDD. I did enjoy the food at WC. We had a late lunch at WC not much going on. A few CM did some stunts fun to watch. We were on the quiet side of the restaurant which was fine by us.

They are two very different things.

HDD is a dinner show. They serve ribs, chicken, corn on the cob, etc. while putting on a hoe-down-type show. Very fun, and the food is pretty good! It also comes with all-you-want beer and wine. Price: $50.22 per adult.

WCC is a sit-down table-service restaurant. There's no "show", but the servers like to have fun with you. The all-you-can-eat skillet is served family-style at the table. It consists of smoked meats, mashed potatoes and coleslaw. Price: $22.49 per adult.

As everone has said they are 2 differnt things. Which is why HDDR is 2 TS and WC is 1. We really enjoyed the show and food and free drinks at HDDR all ages seems to like this. WC is good food and we were always lucky to sit on the quiet side. I never wanted to be in the middle where everyone had their meal interupted. Food is good at both. If you are staying a few day do them apart a day or so. My DH can eat BBQ every day :rotfl: He loves it... :sunny:

Both are different. HDDR is fun if you've never done it but it's exactly the same show I saw 20 years ago. We went last fall and they served loose corn (not corn on the cob).
