Whispering Canyon, do you do and why ?

I never really considered going here, but on our arrival day we have some downtime. I'm thinking dinner, we have a toddler and a 6 yr old boy.

Do you think a 6 yr old would like it ? What are the antics I see in the reviews ?

What do you get there ?

WCC has gotten much more subdued in the past few years. At one time it was crazy in there.

One of the best known antics involves ketchup, make sure your son asks for some. (sorry, I'm not spilling)

I think most 6 year old boys would enjoy it there.

You can order from a menu or order a family style skillet. It's Western fare, BBQ mainly.

Your 6-year old should find it fun, between the ketchup and pony races. The food is good as well, and even if you're on the DDP, you get unlimited milk shakes. I say try it - especially if staying at WL.

We eat there on almost every trip - we did breakfast on our last trip...

Guilty pleasure confession....

I had a Bubble Gum Milkshake after I was finished with Breakfast!

It was GREAT!

If I remember correctly we are eating there two times on our upcoming November/December trip - it's a lot of fun - the food is good - AND
it is in our favorite place on EARTH - Wilderness Lodge!

Whispering Canyon is THE quintessential BREAK from the Magic Kingdom if you plan to go back for a few hours in the evening for Parade - Fireworks - etc.
You can take a boat from the Magic Kingdom - spend some time on the water - arrive at Wilderness Lodge - spend a few glorious moments admiring the amazing Lobby - check in - and then sit down in the middle of the action in one of the craftsman sofas and wait for your pager to buzz - OR you could cuddle up in front of the fire on a chilly evening!

Then after dinner you can shop around the Wilderness Lodge gift shop which is one of my favorites! Then take a very short walk over to the Villas and take a look a the cool stuff in the lobby over there. THEN you can take a stroll down to the pool and walk around - take a few photo in front of the waterfall - and then head back to the dock to catch the boat!

Best of all the cool dark lobby really transports you away from the hustle and bustle of the Magic Kingdom - and then slowly transitions you back to all the action as you come back across the lake.

WE LOVE WILDERNESS LODGE! AND Whispering Canyon Cafe!
Definitely GO - take in the experience!

We have a breakfast scheduled there. What are some of you favorite items on the menu? I'm looking at the eggs Benedict and the french toast...

so we decided to celebrate my 2years old Birthday there!!!
Unforunately I have been trying to get a reservation for his Birthday and can only get one time slot not the one I need!!!
So my question to you is,
does anyone think that I will be able to change my reservation for 2 hours later while I am in disney this will be next week?
I will keep trying online for the next 2 days!!!

This is the one restaurant that my boys (5 & 7) request by name, trip after trip. I think it is the thrill of having a milkshake with dinner as much as anything! I've always been satisfied with our dinner there, and the antics aren't over-the-top - at least, not for us.

I like their food so DH and I do go there, but we ask to be seated in the section that is at the very back (side). It has about 6 tables and is usually quiet.

Last Christmas Eve night I decided i wanted to eat there, I waited for a table, no more then 10 minutes, the food is good thatI try to go there for every visit to the world

We have been making WC a regular stop for the last 5 trips. The food is pretty good, the service is some of the best that we've had, and we enjoy the antics.

My nephew was 5 on this last trip and had fun with the pony race. It's also a really cool hotel to wander around and explore if you've never been there.

Yes, you can take a boat to WL.

We usually eat either a breakfast meal there or a dinner meal there. My boys, (5 & 9) have been going there since they were babies. The Lincoln Log table while waiting is great but sometimes the kids won't let the adults in to build too. We've always enjoyed the service and food.

For breakfast DH usually gets the breakfast skillet and I get the western omelette. DS9 & DS5 will sometimes share an order of pancakes (they are rather large). For dinner DH usually gets the skillet and I usually get the meatloaf (yummy!). The boys seem to be working their way through the kids menu and I haven't heard any complaints yet.

The WL is beautiful! And as a PP stated, the gift shop is really nice. We have eaten at WCC our last three trips. The food is always pretty good but your server totally makes your experience. Boring server = boring meal. I won't ruin the antics either but it is all good, clean family fun. Be sure to tell your server how thirsty you are! The stick pony races are cute for the kids. 2 of the 3 times we've been, each child has recieved a wooden nickel souvenir after the race. Nice little keepsake.

Went for lunch last summer because we were staying at the WL so it was easy to do and we have never been there before...and we will never go back

There were no antics going on at all and our waiter was a huge dude. A few tables had the tiny glasses or the huge glasses, I thought since I sucked down my ice tea in record time the waiter would make a joke and bring back a huge glass but he didnt

The corn bread was awesome but the soup had a huge chicken bone in it, I mean a huge one, you could not miss it! The skillet was a platter of fat, all the meat was just fat fat fat and no meat!

It was very noisy but not from fun and games, very disappointed

We love it. We try to go everytime we're in Disney.

1) Things have quieted down because there is apparently a new manager of the hotel and he frowns upon too much "fun" from WCC. Therefore, no more lobby games.

2) Tis true the server makes the fun, so hopefully you will get a great server. Our last server had some stupid squeaky thing in his pocket and that was it--- bor--ring

3) Apparently the big fun happens at the dinner meals. They get rowdier later in the day.

4) Ask for ketchup and ask for a large drink to get a nice refill. My lips are sealed after that.

We pretty much get the skillet when we go, always something for everyone to enjoy.

We have dinner reservation there for 8:55pm. I hope that isn't too late to get some of the rowdyness out of it. I heard all great things about this place. We will be coming from DHS and going there for dinner. My son eats ketchup on everything so I will be sure to have him ask for some and I will have my other son ask for a large drink.

I do have a couple questions though. We are doing the DDP and I know this is on it, but are the light up kids drinks included or do you pay extra for those? and what about the milkshakes? Also my 6yo is a very finicky eater and won't like anything I saw on the menu aside from corn on the cob, do they have chicken nuggets available for kids or a kids menu?

I have never really heard the WCC being rowdy during the day but for breakfast and dinner they can get fun. The light-up drinks tend to be an extra cost and on the DDP they will get a standard child sized cup. You can always pay OOP for the light-up cups though. I believe on the child's menu for dinner there is either the child sized skillet (they will actually eat off of any adult skillet on the table so they don't get their own jr. sized skillet) or a cheeseburger. They might be able to make your child a grilled cheese sandwich even though it isn't on the menu.
