We've never been there for dinner and would like to try it. For 2 adults, 2 young adults and one teen....what do you think? I've read it's really noisy and "corny". I tend to think it's a better place for younger kids than older ones, but if you've tried it, please share your experiences. Oh, and of course, how's the food?
Thanks

kathyg,

It is more geared for kids, but it is fun nonetheless. We are planning our July 4th week trip right now and my kids insist that we go here once. Food is nothing fantastic -- kind of basic BBQ fare.

If your group is fun-loving and don't mind a lot of noise, then go for it. if not, there are so many other places to try.

Good luck!
Gregg

Food is OK, for Disney and it isn't that bad, me and my son went last yr. he was 19, he didn't seem to mind, we like watching outher people and the kids. I'm staying at WL but I don't think I can fit that into my eating patterns this trip

Noisy and corny, yes...
We have eaten there before, and it is geared towards younger kids running around (having a blast). Fun to watch. But, the food is decent, and it was not a bad deal if you are hungry for a big lunch. Have never been except at lunch time. I would say the food is above average for WDW, especially when compared to counter service.

We ate lunch there a couple of weeks ago. I agree with the above posters. The food is fairly good but not outstanding, the atmosphere is pleasant but corny, kind of noisy but not obnoxious. It's definitely geared toward younger kids. Having experienced it, (and we did have a good lunch), I don't feel the need to go back again. I don't think my teenage son would particularly enjoy it, but he would tolerate it and would enjoy the food.

We ate at the WC in December, 1 adult and 3 teens. There is an emphasis on the "younger set" here...but then again...we are all "young at heart" while at Disney.

There are definite activities aimed at the very young....but anyone of any age can ask for ketchup and an extra straw !!

It is quite entertaining to watch the "antics" whether you are involved directly or not.

I would recommend that you dine here. The food is quite palatible (sp?) and do try the Apple Vinagrette salad dressing...YUM :bounce:

I agree...we just ate at WC on Sunday...and it was loud and corny...but the food was pretty good and not overpriced IMHO. We would go again, but you have got to like BBQ. And for what its worth..its good for breakfast..(better than Ohana's breakfast). Especially if you are staying at the WL...you can sit and eat Bfast...and get out pretty quick.

We really enjoyed WC. The Skillet is the best. DD enjoyed the pony races also. Oh, and if you go, make sure you ask for some ketchup!

I had heard that a pop gun fight breaks out, is this true, might be too scary for 2 year old? I have a PS there for 1st night, should I keep it

We were there last Oct 2002 and really enjoyed it. We didn't have a PS but it was our day off from the park and just headed over. It was very quiet that day so there were no "loud" activities going on which was perfect for my 6 y.o. who is autistic. The food was, IMHO, excellent. The service also excellent. I think it just really depends when you go. It's always a must do for us because we love their burgers.

We ate there in March and loved it. Good food, really fun atmosphere and I love any excuse to be at the Wilderness Lodge. Two thumbs up! We're going back in October.

Thank you all for the responses...I think it will be fun, but you never know with teenagers. I'm thinking if they get into it, it will be fun...But, what's with asking for ketchup and an extra straw?????

You should be fine, considering that you already know that it is loud and corny.

DH & I went one evening while at WL for our 25th anniversary week, and we were too tired to go elsewhere. We didn't really understand the venue up front, and our waitress was not particularly sensitive to our mood (which was overtired and mildly grumpy). In hindsight we should have ordered room service!

We didn't enjoy it at all. The food was just OK, and the noise and obnoxious server just annoyed us.

That's the beauty of these forums... we had not yet discovered the DIS boards, and had we known, could have avoided a lousy dinner experience.

JMHO. Whatever you decide, have a great trip!

What is considered a "younger set"? I have a 12, 11, 9 and 9 year old. Are they still considered "younger" or will the older 2 be too "old" lol!?
