Hi there

Me and mine are going through the restaurant list at present trying to plan. We are both in two minds about WCC, on the one hand the food looks pretty good and is exactly what we like, but on the other hand I am not sure if I want my meal to be ruined by embarassing interactions. We are a young couple who enjoy a good time and laugh but I don't think I could handle having to go to every table to pick up ketchup.

Should we avoid?

Thanx

Stefy x

I think you should go. Tell your server that your looking for a "quiet" meal.
Tell him/her that you don't want to "participate"...but you'll have a great time watching everyone else.
BTW....people bring ketchup to you.....when they yell "ketchup"....then you and 50 others...bring their bottle to the new table.

I think if you let the CM thats checks you in that you want to observe but not participate they will take care of it. I love watching but hate having attention drawn to myself, I'm a quiet person(funny thing, my girls are opposites) When we went to WCC the CM picked up on it right away and didn't raise too much fuss around us. Though my youngest loved taking the ketchup to the other tables. We love WCC and will be going back on our next trip. I love the apple vinegarette. There went my room service bill.

We love this place!
We have never actually been embarrassed in any way. The waiters usually feed off the customer.

You don't have to go to each table. They all bring the ketchup to you - only if you need ketchup. And if you have ketchup, you don't have to take your ketchup to anyone.
There is a list somewhere on the disboard that lists some of the things to get the waiters to do something "embarrassing". I will send it to you if I find it. I do know that you don't want to talk on you cell phone while at your table.

Try it.
You will have a great time.

I am not sure I would tell the waiter you want a quiet dinner. This may be an invitation for him to act up. Again, I think they will just play off of you.

Thanx for the replies and about the ketchup must have read it wrong.

So if you say to the CM you want a quiet meal they will leave you alone? If thats the case then maybe we should book ADR's then. I'm not a stick in the mud I just am not really one for audience participation (had a really bad experience in Singapore Zoo where I had to blow dart balloons and act like a those tribesman from POC Dead Mans Chest- still makes me cringe to this day).

Jackhannahbananah - please do send that list if you find it :)

DH and I are going to try it in Oct....but I had to push him hard into the idea because he doesnt want to be in a loud crazy place...I reminded him that he loves the 50's PT and that can get crazy and he was still hesitant...until I showed him pictures of the food and then he said ok sign us up

Ya have to go just to watch the pony races. My DW and I always place bets on the winner.

Lol, thanx guys again. We have decided that we are going to give it a go :) Fingers crossed.

Here is a short list of things to do (or not to do in your case).
Allears.net - Dining - Resort Hotels - Whispering Canyon - at bottom of menu page it gives you a short list.
Two things I would add are - don't use your cell phone and don't drink your pop extra fast (if you do that they will bring you 2 large jugs of pop - which you may like). If you want ketchup but don't want to make a fuss - just ask the table next to you for theirs (when the waiter is not araound:rotfl: )

It really depends on your waiter. Again, ask the CM that is checking you in for a waiter that will keep it quiet for you. DON'T ASK THE WAITER - I think it will back fire on you if you get the wrong waiter.

Cool thanx for that, will remember to ask when checking in.

DB does like the idea of getting large jugs though.

Lol cool, bet you weren't thirsty after that.

So I know about the ketchup and the coke, but what else do they do?

I've seen dinner rolls being thrown.

Just ASK for a PEPSI (the "P" word) and see what happens.

Make a cell call and prepared for the whole restaurant to say "Hi" to your caller.

Ask them to turn the A/C down because you're cold...gets a comical response.

I've eaten there so many times (mostly for breakfast), I find that the antics largely depend on the server....your mileage many vary.

Hmm doesn't sound so bad, love the Pepsi one.

When DS was younger (he's now 20) WCC was alot of fun. However at some point we stopped eating there. We had dinner there on Thursday before going on the Wishes fireworks cruise. I was really surprised by just how loud it is. We don't mind the CM interaction (that was fun) and we got the large coke with the 3' straw. But it was impossible to hear/talk with some people we were having dinner with - which was annoying (though my fault for choosing WCC for that). Definitely, if you want to talk, do not eat there. But if you're into a zany, fun, kids yellin' time, it's great. One thing - we didn't enjoy the food as much as we once did but maybe we were just spoiled from all the good dining experiences we had these past 2 weeks.

My family loves the food, but we're not crazy about the participation. We ask to be seated in the back room where its quiet. The waiter/waitress does their shtick, which is fun, but it's out of range for the horse racing and other activities which we don't necessarily want to be a part of.

Hmmm may just request a back table then. Another question, we like the look of the skillet, is it too much for 2 and if we don't finish it will we get flack from the CM as part of the "fun"?

Just wanted to add that asking to be seated away from the action doesn't always work. My friend and I were having breakfast there and specifically asked for a table in the back, as we just wanted a quiet breakfast and didn't want to participate.

Bad idea. The host called us a couple of old ladies and stuck us right in the middle of the action. We ate as quickly as we could and avoided all eye contact with the waiter. :lmao:

OP, it seems like you're collecting a list of things that set off the waitstaff, to be sure that you don't do them and attract attention. That doesn't sound like the makings of a pleasant, relaxing meal.

I've said it before, I'll say it again. If you don't want to participate in the antics, there's absolutely no reason to go to WCC. The food is decent, but except for the skillet, no different than you can get at about a dozen other places in WDW.

Have a look at Trails End at Fort Wilderness. It's a short, pleasant boat trip from WL, CR or MK, and has a great, reasonably priced buffet with the same sort of home-cookin' stuff that WCC serves.
