You must always read the fine print when bidding on something! ;)

I think he/she was! :rotfl:

Feedback: (Negative) Won auction, but didn't pay. Sorry, but winning an auction is a contract.

If I saw that auction I would be sure to keep an eye on it and email every single person that bid on that item and tell them to read the fine print....I know its their stupid fault for not reading it in the first place but I would warn them anyway!!

I know how you feel, but technically that is a violation of ebay rules.

Actually it is not. eBay lives and breathes through Caveat Emptor which literally translated (and legally binding) is Buyer Beware. That this was unethical is irrelevant and nowhere on ebay does it say you cannot sell an empty cardboard box.

I was responding to a poster who wanted to email the person bidding on the empty box. That is the no-no.

May be a no-no but I have done it a few times on things....OPPPSSS lol...but I felt good when I did it LOL!!!

Sadly there are people who fall for this, which means the practice will stop anytime soon. If people didn't fall for it, the cost of listing the item would be too big of a risk for the scam artists.

I say good for the person that sold it. He wasn't trying to scam people, he was very clear that it was JUST THE BOX.

Can you beleive 40 bids though! People amaze me.

I just asked on the budget board, but maybe you guys could help me. I bid and won a guitar/amp that wasn't the same as in the picture. The worth of the item listed matched the picture, but not the piece of crap I won. There were three smaller pics of the actual items. Its sounds like I am just **** out of luck, aren't I? Or would this be misrepresentation, because it showed a different set up/stock picture?

Thank you if you can give me some insight.

Would you be willing to link to the auction?

Different set up? Was the model the same or not?

Maybe the picture included more than you received, but did include the item you received. That's always tricky, many items require pictures of a typical set up to really show what they are/do. Usually the picture has a disclaimer, was there a disclaimer anywhere in the listing?

I don't know how to link, but the picture was a stock Squier strat pak with a Fender amp. The smaller picture is a smaller inadequate Squier Amp. The guitar appears to be the same, and I'm not fussing about the couple of items that weren't a part of the auction. The worth, is about $150 difference.

Thank you! I bought it for a Christmas gift and am just ready to bawl!

I would go through Square Trade, it sounds like the item was misrepresented. I've gone through them before when I had one person who was psycho buying an item from me...once they realize that someone else was involved they "backed off" and it was settled. Here's a link:

OK, I just did a search for completed auctions for "Sony Playstation Portable PSP system US version box" and I have to say I'm amazed. One jerk clearly wrote "just the Box" in his discription just like the listing in the OP's post but had put (and sold with) a buy it now price of $150.00!! I don't think that's honest.

There was another auction who wrote right in their auction

This would be great for someone who is thinking about listing their psp on ebay, but they don't have the box. This will increase the value of your auction and you should make a lot more money with it.

...and it still sold for $123.49!! At least that person tried a little harder. You can't blame the seller for that one.
