While eating the "grey stuff" I made a mistake...

and asked DH "what do you think this stuff really is??" and without hesitation he names the flavor, and after tasting and re-tasting I now taste it too. So now the 'grey stuff' will never be the same. :sad2:

:hyper2: I honestly thought I was the last one not knowing the way the waiter just smiled when I asked him if my husband was right. Its cookies & creme.

Although, cookies & cream is a bit different. The bits of cookie in the cream give it a different flavor from the homogenous texture of the grey stuff. It was OK, but I don't know if I would get it again.

Yes I have read here to mix oreo crumbles with the cream. I didn't think it was a mystery.

Yep this grey stuff is just cookies and cream.

From my understanding the real grey stuff is foie gras (which to me is delicious) but years ago Disney signed an agreement with Peta saying they wouldn't serve it any more since one way of making foie gras is inhumane.

Edit to add I never got why they made it a dessert because in the song it is clear he is talkign about appetizers when he says "try the grey stuff it's delicious" as the dish before is soup du jour.

I vaguely recall when BOG first opened and staff was questioned as to what the 'grey stuff' was, it was never told. I dont remember ever asking myself but whenever i tasted it, it was delicious and I'm NOT fan of cookies & creme.

I have waiters tell me ever time we are in there- I did not think it was a secret?

In the very beginning when it wasn't on the menu it was more of a secret. Especially when it was kept for special occasions and served by itself on a plate.

We have had it on a plate by itself before- and I am almost positive the wait staff told us then too! Oops! :)

ah. We asked and were told it was a secret. Of course I think I was there on week 2 or 3 can't remember it was so long ago now.

I am sure back then it was a mystery :)
It might be because I am GF so maybe they had to tell me so I wouldn't eat it! ;)

Oh that would make a lot of sense. I could see them saying what it is for allergy reasons.

Yes, this!

OP, I thought you were going to say something completely off the wall! :duck:

Off the wall to me is something that's actually made of cookies and creme & they call it "grey stuff" instead of cookies and creme. I was really so disappointed, for real. :sad2:

Oh, I was expecting something bad. The Disney menu even mentions the flavor.
