I went to ASMU 9/18-28. We just found out from Disney Visa today that our card was charged $500 and $200:earseek::mad: while we were down there. Both purchases were made at Downtown Disney and we didn't go down there ntil the last day. The purchases were made on the 24th and the 26. I am so angry. Disney Visa reversed the charges as they realize from our credit history, other purchases and what not that we are not the kind of people to go on crazy spending sprees. and who spends exacct amounts anyway? But I am disapionted in Disney because now I wonder if It was a CM that stole my info.... :sad1::sad2:

REPORT IT!!! Call the resort and demand to speak with a manager. Tell them the situation. Hopefully they will follow up so no one else has to deal with this!

So sorry it happened and messed up your vacation

Sorry to hear that happened to you. Unfortunately, it seems like this story is repeating itself a lot lately. What's the deal?

The really weird thing is my check out reciept didn't show any of the $ 700.....

So were they direct charges on to your Disney Visa? Or were they purchases charged to your room key and then applied to your Visa? Any idea how it might have happened?

:confused3Oh my thats terrible!!!!! Glad you "caught" it and it was reversed!

I hope you did report it!!! It makes me nervous to use the card or have it on file!:scared1:

I'm so sorry that happened to you! That's just terrible!!

They don't know. But my hubby had left his wallet in the room. Probably not the best choice but he always does it and has never had . That is the only thing that i can think of. But It could have been off of our numbers. Who know?

How could someone have charged those exact amounts? The only thing that comes to mind, is that someone bought Disney Dollars with your card?? And then spent that money throughout the park, rather than charging the card over and over again.

Is there any time that you gave your card information over the phone? I once ordered curtains inside of LInens and Things from another nearby store when they were out of the panels I needed. I think one of the employees or a customer nearby heard my transaction and wrote down my number!

Soon after, someone bought $300 worth of tennis shoes. Doesn't sound like something I would do. Hmm... :headache:

Did you have a car, and buy gas while there? For awhile it seemed I kept reading about this sort of thing happening when people bought gas at one of the closeby stations.

I'm glad Chase was so easy about reversing the charges!

That is no ok. Glad you cought it. Is Disney Visa looking into the matter? I hope so. that is just not ok to happen anywhere but let alone when you are on vacation at the Mouse House!

I'm sorry that this happened to you, when your DH left his wallet in the room he didn't put it in the room safe?? I don't put my cc on KTTW for charging and with some of these other posts I think that I will using cash and gift card, maybe even travelers cks.

Call the Orange County Sheriff's Department and file a police report.

Unfortunately, I've seen several posts on here recently from people this has happened to.

Same thing happened to us last year after we ate in Downtown Disney. They tried to charge $7000 but our limit was only $8000 & there was'nt enough balance left. They were real good about calling us as soon as it happened.

Wow this is the second story I read this week on the disboard about someones credit card being used by someone else at disney

I honestly think that they have some theives at the Mouse into stealing the guests cheese...:sad2:
It's actually the Mouse's cheese that is being stolen but each year the Mouse expects his guests to buy him more and more cheese each time they visit.

A credit card is useless if you do nothing but hide it in the dresser or freezer back at home for fear someone might copy down the numbers on it.

Someone got both my parents and our CC numbers on our trip in Dec 2007. We figured it was a CM at SSR, but it really could be anywhere you use your card. Our charges were used for gas and at Universal. One thing I was quite happy about was that Disney Security was tracking the charges and also filed reports (I assume as part as their SOP) with Orange County as well. So, call your resort, inform them and then make sure you get passed to Disney Security as well. They won't work magic, but perhaps they will be able to fire and prosecute those who they hopefully track this activity to.

The same thing happened to us in 2007. After we returned home we got a call from Visa to ask about unusual purchases made to our card. These purchases were made online to a variety of places, but nothing was charged in Florida. I explained to Visa personnel that we had not made the charges and they dropped the charges and gave us a new credit card. I never even thought about calling DW and letting them know. I will definitely do that next time--hopefully there is not a next time.
