Is it just for fall break? I didn’t think anyone would have school off the week leading into Halloween.
I’m in Indiana and our school now has a full week off for Fall Break. It’s normally the last full week of October. We used to only have the Thursday and Friday off.

And we did the Tuesday night MNSSHP. It was not as bad crowd wise as I expected it to be.

Columbus Day in US, Thanksgiving up here in Canada and many fall breaks around that time as well.

Of the two options you posted later October is by far the lesser of the evils.

Huh that’s weird. I’m in Iowa and all of the schools around here stick to Christmas break and spring break. That’s the only breaks they get.

We’re going the week leading into Halloween because my daughter has off school (two of her classmates’ families are going that week as well)... I think the sad reality is, there are always going to be kids off school somewhere. So pick the week that works best for your schedule, make a plan, and make the best of it!

It is going to be crowded no matter when you go in October. Different school systems everywhere have breaks (from 1-2 weeks!) at different times. GENERALLY SPEAKING, _I_ avoid anything near a federal holiday.

We booked all star movies October 21-25 and French quarter 25-28. We are super excited!! Haven’t gotten plane tickets yet because frontier hasn’t released for October.

hi

We've gone the week after Columbus week which was awesome. Great weather high 80's.

This year we;re going October 27th to Nov 3rd. Hoping for the best. we also decided to go to the MNSSHP on the 30th instead of Halloween night for fear it might be more crowded.:confused3

Curious to see how it all turns out.

We're just excited to experience Food & Wine, Halloween decorations and~~~Christmas decorations all in one trip!:yay:

It's been 3 years since we were at Food & wine and Halloween so hope crowds aren't too bad. :thumbsup2

We ended up going with October 21-28 for now until plane tickets are released. We are hoping to hit the parties on the 23 and 25 since they are both $99/person. We have never been for Halloween or Food & Wine so we are excited! We will miss the Christmas decorations, but that's okay! It just gives us an excuse for a future trip, maybe next year!

I'm going in with the mindset that it's going to be busy. That way at least I expect it and go in with a good plan to work around crowds.

I really think it will be fine. and yes if you go without lofty expectations i think youll be pleasantly surprised.

My adult daughter and i went again during Christmas new years week and it was crazy crazy. Much More crowded than the year before.
But we went with very low expectations. We knew it would be crazy. but in the long run we knew what we'd be up against:eek::scared1:

So i'm sure you will have a great time. Those are great dates away from any holiday week .

Have a magical time and enjoy our fav resort French Quarter:goodvibes

French Quarter is our favorite, too!! We normally try to only stay at new resorts, but couldn't help ourselves when we saw French Quarter was available. All Star Movies will be new for us so at least we will be getting one new hotel!

Mind if I ask what part of the country you’re from? I’ve never heard of having a full week off for Columbus Day!

I'm in Texas...although getting the week of Columbus Day off is not common here. In fact, I think our neighborhood public schools only get early dismissal on Columbus Day, and days off for fall break are rare. The reason my kids have off a full week in October is that they go to a private, university model schedule type school that tends to have more vacation days than most of the other local schools. Not sure it will really be less crowded than the summer, but I do look forward to a Disney trip in somewhat cooler weather!
