For the life of me, I just cannot decide which week would be better for our WDW trip. I keep going back and forth.

For context, we travel to WDW roughly every year. This trip will be me, my husband, and our four year old son.

Mid-September:
Pros: less crowded, potential free dining?
Cons: heat, hurricane threats

Late October:
Pros: better weather, less risk of hurricane
Cons: crowds, no discounts

Which would you choose and why? Any and all suggestions welcome!

Thank you!

Late October. The weather in late October is much nicer here than it is in mid-September, and the crowds are still decent. Keep in mind, that this has everything to do with the fact that you indicate you visit annually. If this were someone's first, only, or rare trip to WDW, I might suggest Sept in order that they might have a better shot of taking in all the attractions at the parks.

There'd likely be a modest room discount at the end of October. You'd also be able to purchase tickets from an authorized vendor, instead of from Disney (like you have to with free dining), saving some money there.

I'd probably pick October, due to the weather. But only if I were a dedicated Rope Dropper, and able to get a lot done during those morning hours.

I would not worry about hurricanes ( they can hit in late October too) and Disney has closed 4 times ( I think this is the number) due to hurricane so your chances are slim to none that it closes due to a hurricane ( and if it does the parks are dead and I do mean DEAD a few days before it is amazing like the best time to go) As a Floridian I just might book a vacation when the next hurricane hits ( If I am not already there)

I know this isn’t one of your choices but while your child is still young and not in school I would suggest you go sometime in the few weeks after Thanksgiving to experience the holiday stuff.

I voted late October for much better weather. It will be crowded no matter when you go.

I voted late October also. The weather is a bit better. September is super hot and lately they have had several hurricanes effect Disney in September.

I've gotten some amazing hotel rates in mid September at the Swan, so I look for those each year (although I think September is now more crowded than it was a few years ago -- the Epcot Food and Wine Festival seems to be drawing in those off-season crowds very successfully).

Either time of year is a good choice, though. I'm not sure if the difference in crowds can be counted on anymore. I've also experienced heavy heat in late October, yet a cooler trip in late August, so even temperatures are a matter of luck.

We been going in Oct./some early Nov. for many years now and although this is not a slow crowd season anymore, it is still our favorite time to go!

I went with Late October. I have gone twice over the last week of October/first few days of November.
Weather has been different both times. Once a little warmer than I would have liked but the second trip it was great except for the extremely cold first day. Crowds, although it seemed like they would be bad, weren’t really. I also made sure to have my last day before the Marathon weekend in November. As long as you have a good plan and are flexible you will be fine.

I voted for late October. Before my DS started school, we went the week before Halloween for about 4 years and we always enjoyed it. The weather was typically very nice and I loved seeing MK decorated for fall.

Late October, for sure! Still can be hot and crowded, but less, still not zero, threat of hurricanes.

I voted for late October. We actually were in the same boat as you about a month or so back. We ended up going with late October because of the weather. It’s just nice to not have that extra worry about hurricanes. We just booked Saturday through a travel agent for October and got a great deal. We are doing pop century 3 nights and beach club 4 nights with 3 day park hoppers.

Late October is my favorite time to go! We are considering a September trip this year but only because it would be water park heavy and shorter park days. I will taker higher crowds over heat, but that is my personal preference of course.
