I am trying to plan out what ADR's I want to make for our August trip. We have 7 people in our immediate group who we will eat with every meal. We have another 15ish in our Grand Gathering. We all have DDP ( upgraded to regular from QS).

So 10nights/11 days ( 10 days of meals or 11? not sure help?)

2 credits will be for Hoop Dee Doo for my oldest son's 17th birthday...
2 credits will be for our Grand Gathering activity

I must take us to Coral Reef for my Salt water fish fanatic DH who really doesn't want to go to WDW in the first place.

Given the size and ages of my kids I prefer buffets ( even though not as much bang for buck)..
I know I'd like to go to Chef mickey's..this will we will with at least 12 other people from our group ( ack!)

So what do you all suggest for the rest of our meals? ( kids will be almost 6, 7 ,9 and 17)..

We need one at DHS ( ate at 50's prime time before)
one at Ak
and then the rest either at MK or a resort?

input please?

2 credits will be for our Grand Gathering activity that's 4 credits used...

We need one at DHS ( ate at 50's prime time before) we really like Sci Fi: but stick with the sandwiches, not the other dishes. They do burgers really well here. The rest, not so much. Just a fun experience place. And we like Mama Melrose for Fantasmic Dinner package if you can get it. Remember, if you get the Fantasmic package at Mama Melrose, you also get appetizers with your meal, even on the regular dining plan. Service is slow, but food is good enough...think Olive Garden quality. That would be 7 credits used.

one at Ak EDITTED...JUST REALIZED YOU SAID ANIMAL KINGDOM, NOT ANIMAL KINGDOM LODGE. Well, for the buffet, Tusker House at Animal Kingdom is good, solid food mostly regular buffet choices, with a few exotics thrown in. We really liked Yak & Yeti for non-buffet choice but you better like Asian food because that's about all that's on the menu there. A lot of people will say Boma...it's a buffet, so there are options for everyone. We didn't like it all that much & it's noisy and very busy. But the main lodge at AKL is also a spectacular place to visit (can go out and view animals, and even the lobby & gift shop are awesome. If you don't want the buffet, go to Sanaa...food is not quite as exotic as it sounds, and waiters can steer you towards less spicy options. If you're there early in the evening, you can see animals very close to the windows. That would be 8 credits.
and then the rest either at MK or a resort? We prefer the restaurants at the Magic Kingdom resorts over those in that park...except I would go for Crystal Palace buffet...good food & characters. That would be 9 credits. And for final credit, any of these: Kona Cafe at the Polynesian, Grand Floridian Cafe at the Grand Floridian. Both are good, have fairly basic steak & taters on the menu (as well as seafood, chicken & veg. options.) Just decide which resort you'd like to visit...all on the monorail so easy to get to from Magic Kingdom. And a nice break from the park without spending too much time coming & going. Choose one of those, and you're up to 10.input please?

Hope that helps!

I would pick a few character meals because they're fun for everyone, not just the kids. Our favorites are CP and Ohana. I would also recommend Ohana for dinner.:thumbsup2

As far as DHS, we have only eaten at 50's PTC and Sci-Fi, and would only go back to PTC.

We've never done TS at AK, but are trying Tusker House for our upcoming trip.

Good luck.:goodvibes

For me, the issue with big groups gathering for dinner is that you can only talk with the people right around you. If someone is at the end of the table you can't talk to them. So keeping in mind my personal preference is there any way you can meet by someone's pool or a play area and order some pizza? That way the kids can play and everyone can mingle and talk.

Just my 2 cents, but my family prefers all of the buffets over Chef Mickey's. Tusker House, Crystal Palace, and 1900 Park Fare were all better in our opinion. I have also heard good things about Cape May for breakfast.

As for Animal Kingdom, we really like Yak & Yeti.

One of the options for Grand Gatherings is the breakfast at Tony's (we will be doing this on our upcoming trip in Jan). You get to meet Mickey and the Gang, and have a family style breakfast.

Agreed about Chef Mickeys, We love 1900 Park Fare for breakfast and dinner, b-fast there is great because of the Mad Hatter he is hysterical! O'hannas is our fav. for dinner at monorail resort. DHS favorite is Sci-Fi for the entertainment value, like pp said stick with the burgers or sandwiches. At AK we liked yak and yetti, but you do have to like chineese. The fried potsitckers are to die for there. Flametree has good barbecue at AK so if you wanted to save a TS and eat CS there that is a good option.

MK: Crystal Palace

EPCOT: Akershus and Biergarten

DHS: Tough one. No clue. Nothing appeals to me. Maybe Mama Melrose?

AK: Tusker House for breakfast

OTHER:
- Boma
- 'Ohana
- Cape May (for breakfast)
- 1900 Park Fare for breakfast and dinner both look interesting
