Which would you get? Droid-X or HTC Incredible?

I'll soon be a new Verizon customer and want to get something similar to the iphone4. I'm not sure if I want the iphone on Verizon. The DroidX is $199 and the HTC Incredible is free - with a 2 year contract. Why do they charge more for the X? How do they differ? I'd like to hear from people who have both the X and Incredible and if you know of any deals out there right now? Thanks!

I have an Incredible and I like it, but the battery life is not good. I am not sure that the Droid X is much better though. It also randomly turns off for no reason. I have had it for about 8 months now and I am seriously considering getting the iPhone sometime after it is released for Verizon. I am an avid Mac user and really prefer the Mac interface and programs, but the Incredible is similar in some ways.

(never had the HTC Incredible but I have a droid2, DH has a droid X.) Have you checked other customer reviews to see what the difference is? Offhand, I'm guessing the droid x has better camera and screen resolution functions. DH got the X specifically so that if he's watching video clips, the images are immaculate. He did a lot of research before deciding on the X, though. I'd check the Verizon main page and read some reviews.

Are you the only person on your plan? Verizon also had some buy one, get one deals with the Droid phones, I don't know if any are still going on, but it can't hurt to ask.

Have you gone to the Verizon store and looked at the phones and held them? I went to the store with the intent to get the Droid X but found that most of the droid phones were too big for me. I couldn't hold them comfortably and they most definitely wouldn't fit in my pocket or my Vera Bradley wristlet. I ended up getting a Vortex. Its a droid phone, but has a little smaller footprint and is more comfortable for me.

So my point is to go to the store and play with the phones for awhile.

I love my Droid X! I found every other phone that I "played" with to be much too small for my stubby fingers. I do have two complaints about my Droid X though,
  1. The Bluetooth and the WiFi seem to conflict with each other such that the WiFi is pretty useless if Bluetooth is on.
  2. For such a large screen, the resolution is not that great and pictures do not look as crisp as onother phones.
OP, I'm curious as to why you aren't interest in the iPhone on Verizon if you want something like the iPhone? DW needs a new phone and we are trying to decide between a Droid and an iPhone. I really don't have any experience with the iPhone, and when I got my phone, there really wasn't a choice for Verizon.

I'm interested in the responses also. I am with Verizon anddue for an upgrade.
I've been wanting an iPhone since they came out and now that Verizon is getting it, I am having second thoughts. iPhone, Droid, or wait for the possible new iPhone 5 in the Spring. I lose my upgrade credit on July 16, don't know when/if a new iPhone will become available by then though...right now I'm leaning towards the iPhone being offered next month. I've used my SIL's Droid and to me it's a brick, too big for me.

I went with the DroidX after going to the store and playing around with the phones. I liked the bigger screen and the better camera.

I'm not very knowledgeable about the phones myself, but my DH is very much so. All I know is that he got the Incredible first and ended up returning it and getting the Droid X which he loves.

You really need to try them. I got the incredible, the others were too big for me to hold and carry all the time, but the screen is still plenty big for me to see. I think most other features are the same.

I was due for an upgrade in October and went in to play with the 2 phones you mentioned. AFter doing research online I was sure I would want the Droid X. Turns out it is just too big for my hands to hold comfortably and I much prefered the HTC Incredible.

After all that, I decided to wait and see if prices would come down around Christmas and then I held out hoping the iPhone would be released soon. I've used DH's Droid and am not thrilled with the OS - I much prefer how my iTouch works and am hoping for an easy transition to the iPhone because of it.

I've had the Incredible since it came out in April and still love it, but I've always liked the UI on HTC phones. DH has the Droid X and he loves it, but it does feel pretty big to me. The biggest difference between the two is the size. I agree with the others that you should go to the store and play around with each to see which feels more natural for you.

But depending on what your priority is with cell phones, you may want to wait. If price is most important, I'd pick either of these phones now as Verizon is has some pretty good deals because they're trying to get rid of them. In the next few months they are releasing some 4g capable phones (including both HTC and Motorola versions) and these Incredible and X are going to be outdated. If you use the internet on your phone a lot and speed is important to you, I'd wait for the new ones.
