Originally we were going to stay off property the night we arrived and then spend 10 nights at the CR MKV. Neither my DH nor I have stayed at the CR since we were young adults in the 70's. It has been my dream to stay at the CR again. DH decided he wanted to try to do the sunset safari at AKL so we changed our reservations for 3 nights at AKL concierge & 8 nights at the CR. DH keeps talking me into adding more days at AKL so we are now at 5 nights AKL and 6 nghts CR. He now wants to make it 7 nights AKL and 4 nights at the CR. For all of you CR lovers out there, is 4 nights at the CR enough? PS Let me add. We are in our mid 50's and are no longer park commandos. We enjoy spending time at the resort, sitting on the balcony with a glass or wine or soda, etc.

We have never done Animal Kingdom...with two boys in college, it isn't feasible right now. But I think the restaurants are better, the view with the animals would win me over immediately, and I think it is less crowded and less noisy that CR. We have stayed at the CR and took a tour of the new rooms when friends stayed there last year--we weren't impressed. I would go with your DH on this one.

You will love the balcony's at AKL. My DH and I rarely spend time at the resorts, but we did when we stayed at AKL. It is wonderful to wake up in the morning and sit on the balcony with a cup of coffee and watch the animals. Just walking around the resort and seeing everything takes a ton of time. I would switch to at least the 7 nights at AKL, if not your whole stay.

go with 7 at the AKL, its an amazing place. But do keep some days at the CR

I voted for making the DH happy. Of course, that could be partly because I'm not a CR fan and would want to be at AKL the whole time myself. . .

I voted for Keep as is 5 nights AKL & 6 nights CR. This way you can get almost an equal amount of nights at both Resorts and because the Contemporary Magic Kingdom view is that amazing, you will want to spend as much time there as possible.

are you staying in the Tower or wing at CR?

if the tower then bay lake or MK view?

if MK view - then go with 6 days at AKL and 5 days at CR.

if bay lake then 7 days at AKL and 4 days at CR.

of course with a mk view might go with 5 days at AKL and 6 days at CR.

watching wishes from your balcony is a treat!

be sure to go to the bay lake side at least once to see EWP.

Hi Spiceycat - CR is tower MKV with AAA discount. That is what makes it so hard for me to give it up. :) Plus we alway do mostly Epcot dining. It has been years since we did Critico's, Narcoosees, 1900 Park Faire and I have never been to Calif Grill or Chef Mickey's for breakfast. We were going to target some monorail resorts for dining this year which makes monorail access convenient. And, we NEVER spend the amount on a room that we are spending this year. We always do best AP rate at WL or AKL (non-concierge) or Swan/Dolphin or moderate. The only reason we are doing it this year is because my DH was lucky enough to win almost $10,000 at a casino and he said what the heck let's spend it to stay at a really nice place at Disney. It will be years (and maybe never unless he hits another jackpot) until I am willing to spend our $$$ (DH calls me cheap; I just would rather put those $$$ away for retirment) for CR resort. So, thus my dilemma.

We just stayed at AKL savannah view from December 30th - Jan 5th. We have 3 children and this place was the quietest that we have every stayed. We have stayed at the Poly, CR, GF, values, and Mods. The AKL is soooo nice and quiet. We felt like we were the only ones there. I felt like we could have stayed here alot longer, because I don't think we had enough time to relax. The pool and the hot tubs are beautiful. Our ages are 42 and 47 with twins 11 and a 13 year old. Our children loved AKL. The food here was the best. We ate 4 times for dinner at AKL. Both dining places were great. The CR is nice and our children loved it there last year when we stayed there, but it is louder there and busy. The buses were never crowded at AKL. Several times there was only 6 to 15 people on the bus. AKL is a few miles longer than the other resorts. We loved everything about AKL.:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 You will love AKL with a Savannah view.

Originally ...10 nights at the CR MKV... dream to stay at the CR again. DH decided ...do the sunset safari at AKL ...AKL concierge ...DH keeps talking me into adding more days at AKL ... is 4 nights at the CR enough? ...We are in our mid 50's and are no longer park commandos. It is not clear what resort you are use to staying at during your recent visits but a club stay will provide the little nice items throughout the day and it does not sound like you will have this feature during your CR stay.

We would prefer a longer stay at the CR due to the visuals (castle, lagoon/lake, fireworks, Electric Light Water Parade), easy transportation, closeness to MK, monorail and water recreation provided in the resort area.

We have done both and we are not commandos either. We have young children but keep a defined "balance" between resort and parks. We found the AKL to be fun and exciting and the club to be above many of the other resorts.

The only downside we had was more on the feeling side of things as we missed the water surrounding you find at the MK and Epcot resorts. Viewing animals from your room is fun but lacked the Disney feel for us when compared to the GF, PR or the CR. We also live in a city with a World Class zoo too. We would note that AKL does get exceptionally busy in the evenings as guest from all over the resort visit to dine and view animals. Also, if you are not aware, there is currently some constuction on the grounds too related to DVC facilities. 3 nights at the AKL would be to our preference.
