Which would you choose?

I'd go with option 1 if any garden wing rooms are available at the Contempo.

My 2nd choice would be your option 2. A longer stay and 2 connecting rooms with 2 bathrooms would be nice.

We have a similar situation for our trip this July....5 people in my family. We are basically doing something similary to your Option 1. We are staying at CR for 10 nights and then the Dolphin for 4 nights. This is my first WDW split stay and I am looking forward to the MK/Epcot area split. I feel like the convenience and ammenities of the deluxe resorts, will help us spread out around the resort while we are there.

We have 5 in our family as well and did you Option 1 last summer. Our kids were 7, 5, and 1 at the time, but we loved the 2 stays and the switch was very easy (even with the baby). We actually did BLT to BC. This year we are all staying in a Poly room with a 3rd adult... We prefer location to 2 rooms at Mod. Just our preference.

First off, please explain why heat and crowds make a difference of where you stay.

Sorry! I would take the 2 rooms and save a couple of bucks over one deluxe room and be on top of each other. I can afford Deluxe but for the same money I would rather stay longer at WDW in a Moderate.

melser13 - I didn't know WDW would allow you to book 5 plus the one year old in a POLY room. I see 4 + 1year bur will they let you book it?

Thank you for everyone's replies! I have had the first option booked for months now, but as the payment date gets closer and the kids continue to argue with each other, it really makes me rethink things!!

Because staying at one of the Epcot or MK Deluxes makes it easier to pop back to the resort for nap or pool time (ala Unofficial Guide strategy) without wasting hours in travel time. You can do the nap thing from a Value; I did and it worked fine. But now that we've tried the Deluxe location, I don't think we could ever go back.

Of course, one other option to consider if you're looking for Deluxe location at a lower price - Swan and Dolphin. We just couldn't swing the Deluxe on our last trip but we wanted to be close to Food & Wine. DOlphin was perfect. And they run a lot of specials.

We are a family of 5 and can book at the Poly. It would be no different if we had an infant under 2 with us. You can do a legal 6 there same as like POR or BC..it's just not roomy enough for us though since our kids have gotten bigger. When they were little it was great

We did option #1 minus the split stay. But stayed 5 people aged-19,14,10 and 2 adults in the CR. Honestly I wouldn't do it again-I just think its better to have more room and 2 bathrooms. We did go 5 in the Poly with much younger kids and it was good. Bigger kids-not so fun!!!

Option 1. Such great proximity to MK and Epcot. Deluxe (with less space) trumps moderate (with more space) in my book.

It's vacation. Your family is supposed to get "closer." Heh heh.

I knew they didn't give us enough info. Already booked and wasting our time. It would have been nice to say they already booked but wanted to reafirm there decision.

:-( Well that wasn't very friendly!

After mulling over everyone's responses, we came to the decision last night to stay the five nights at the Contemporary and then switch over to 2 rooms at POR. Just got off the phone changing our reservations and feel good about the decision!! Thanks for everyone's help!

1
Far better overall even with one bathroom (that's really the only downside)
2 is good until you don't get connecting rooms and then it sucks
3 is only good IMO if you are going to other places and/or can't afford to stay onsite

I am sorry but to many times PPL don't give info in fear that they won't get responses. It is nicer on the OP's part to give info so we don't go running off at the mouth with information you the OP could care less about. We here on the DIS care about helping those in need but feel cheated that some don't care to be up front with good information so we can better help them. If you kept information for these reasons then so be it but if your intentions ment well then please accept a big SORRY!

WDW is a place of wonder to enjoy and we all see things differently. May your vacation be the best ever. ENJOY!
