If you could only afford one, or would rather only do one, which would you choose out of the following...

A day at discovery cove, with swim (£600).

or

£600 extra spending money.

?

I would choose the £600 spending money.

My reason is that I would want the whole family to enjoy DC and although you DS won't cost anything it does mean you will have to split up.

Also £600 is around $900 and that could go along way on stuff you can do together.

without hesitation : spending money

A little extra on everything seems better than a big extra and tight budget on the rest.

while it would be amazing i,m sure. i would agree with Elsie and keep the money and use the dollars throughout WDW :thumbsup2

If I really needed the spending money, I would choose to have that. If I didn't need the money (i.e. I had a spare £600 to spend doing something nice with the family) I would choose DC.

If what Elise says is true, though, and your DS won't be able to do the swim, I would wait until he was older and do something that you can all do.

With me, daddy and baby charlie have non swim and will watch the three of us swim which is about half hour? The rest of the day we'll be together.

I've always wanted to do DC, and still do, it looks amazing, but also looking at what I have left to pay off (already booked it) if I cancelled it my holiday would be almost paid off leaving 8 months to save spending money...

Really torn, £600 is a lot of money and will go far like you say, but DC is also something I have to do at least once. If I knew for sure it would still be there and we would still be able to afford it when Charlie is 6 and can join in I would wait but you never know, anything could happen meaning we can't go back.

It would be an extra £600 as well as it's already booked, budget all sorted etc. So we would be fine with the spending money we have and DC but it's still $900. I'm not even leaning toward either, I really can't decide!

I don't think anyone can decide for you.
Option a)
If it's within your budget and you are not sacrificing any other aspect of your holiday, then go for it and have no regrets.
Option b)
If having the extra $ significantly improves your holiday then save your money.

Going to Discovery Cove isn't cheap, you have to lap up every moment, enjoy
the breakfast & lunch, make full use of it.

Personally there isn't enough there for us to stay the full day, Joshua fell asleep when we went in 2005.

We've not been to DC although DH and I swam with dolphins in Cancun many years ago before we had children. Strangely enough both children have said they want to do it now so it's on our must do list for next year.

It's a hard one and although an extra £600 spending money would be nice, for me the DC experience would be a one off and worth more than 'stuff' I would use the £600 on. However, your children are still young and if you think you will go back to Disney (which I'm sure you will!) you might want to wait so that your youngest can also swim (unless you'll all do it again when he's old enough!)

This will be our third time at DC. We have never done the dolphin swim - as the first 2 times DD was too young. I can honestly say we don't feel in any way this has impaired on our day at DC. Asked DD if she wanted to do it this time, and she still said no- we are quite happy having a quick look at the others doing it!

I can say it it a truly brilliant day, and one we look forward to the most on our holiday - and because we don't do the swim ( which is a very small part of your day - about 30 mins) its so much cheaper.

You need to weigh up the odds - but if you can afford to do it - you won't regret it!

Its a really tough decision. I guess it depends on how 'comfortable' your spending money budget really is. Im personally not that much of a shopper and prefer to do things that i will remember.

I have been to DC twice now and although i have done the dolphin swim both times, honestly the rest of the day was equally amazing and we all really enjoyed every minute of it.

The money.
Actually I wouldn't use it as spending money - it would just become part of my food budget!
I've done it and am not convinced it's worth the money.

DC for me. It is expensive but well worth it for me and I cut down on the price by not swimming with the dolphins. But it is how much you love water.

It's an easy one for me because DC doesn't interest me. (We did pay for the kids to go once - they were 19 and 16, so we didn't need to be there with them.) If it meant as much to me as it clearly does to you, though, I'm sure I'd find a way to pay for it. :)

Been twice and think its one of the best experiences in Florida, I wouldn't do the dolphin swim again. once was enough but I can spend the whole day in there no problem, its such a relaxing place.
I would highly recommend doing it but maybe look for an offer, £600 seems a lot. Last year passport members were offered any date for $159 or $59 non swim, that would work out at £364 for you, might be worth you looking to see if there are any offers on for your dates.

We need 3 swims and 1 non swim, is that still that price? I think we;re booked for the 18th currently...

I would have the spending money, however we are on a strict budget would use the money else where. I am not sure if it is something I would book anyway as I don't like swimming. However sounds like you really want to do it so I think you should go for it if you can afford it.

Those prices were for last year, don't know if there are any offers for passport members this year.
Don't think any have been released yet, should be here if they do. http://www.mousesavers.com/discoverycove.html

Just looked at TravelRepublic, their price is £539 for the choice package. £567 direct with DC.

Ahhh so not much different then, if I cancel I have to pay an amendment fee so I wouldn't save anything doing that.

I think I'll leave it until later on and if I have plenty of spending money I'll keep the booking, I do really want to do this :D If I could do with the $900 by then I'll cancel, but going to try to keep the booking and save up plenty of spending money! :D

DC, hands down. It's the best park in Orlando and well worth the money. It's so relaxing and a the new Grand Reef looks a great addition.

We went last year and are going back when we return this August.
