We could eat at Le Cellier at 4:00, or instead, at 6:55pm at Rose & Crown (with hopes of being there and seeing Illuminations). This time is the only time I can get for Le Cellier. We've never been to either restaurant. I'm more interested in Le Cellier for the food, and in Rose & Crown for the Illuminations viewing. What do you all think? Thanks!

P.S. I should add that we've never been to either restaurant, and we've never stayed to watch Illuminations properly (walked through the park during it once).

I have never eaten at either so I can't help as long as the food goes. But I would pick Rose and Crown for Illuminations. I think anyone would enjoy that experience over the food at Le Cellier.

I'd go with dinner at Le Cellier; the food is amazing. The food at R&C is just so-so, and two hours is a loooong time to take up a table just to see Illuminations. Especially since you can watch it from anywhere around the lake.

I personally don't buy into the hype that is LC. It isn't that good, IMO. with that being said, when is this for? March 1, LC goes signature for dinner and I would assume that 4PM would be a dinner ADR. If you are on the dining plan or on a budget, you may not want to use the credits for or pay for a signature meal (not to mention no one knows what the signature menu will look like, what the prices will be or if it will be any good).

I think that one minute, then I think my husband in particular would really enjoy Le Cellier (which would therefore convince him we should go back to Disney again some day, right ?!). I'm also wondering if 6:55 is too early for Illuminations at R&C, but it's the latest time I could get. Even with the early time, we could watch Illuminations on their observation deck (I think), but maybe that's not any better than just standing and watching it from anywhere else in World Showcase. I'm so indecisive about the dining. Thanks!

I'm not expecting much from the R&C's food. And you're right that 2 hours is a long time to wait for Illuminations (even if we do clear out of our table and just watch it from their deck). So Le Cellier's food is worth it you think? I hear it's great. Thanks!

We are not doing a dining plan, but I didn't realize there would be a changeover (we're going after March 1st), and it still might affect our meal and what we'd pay for it. Thanks so much for the info!

I love Le Cellier, hype and all...we've always had a great experience there with service and food. With that said, we probably won't go anymore or won't go very often since it becomes 2 TS on March 1st. I just can't justify "paying double" for a dinner (maybe it makes more sense on the DxDP) unless it was amazing...and really, nothing I've had in Disney has been that good. If you're paying OOP or going before March 1st, then I say Le Cellier...just don't think its worth 2 credits.

I forgot to ask, is Le Cellier child-friendly? Ours are on the older side (9+). Thanks!

Yes- definitely. I mean, its not very entertaining like some Disney restaurants (fairly boring for kids, I'm sure) but there are always kids there. We took our 2 year old in June and he wasn't the only toddler.

The new menu should be released around the 1st...I'm sure the prices will be increasing to go along with charging more credits...but you can check them out then.

When are you going? If Illuminations is a 9:00 show, then I think it's stretching it to think you'll still be there at 9:00.

Is LeCellier considered a lunch or dinner meal? Are you on the DDP? If your trip is after March, you're on the DDP and Le Cellier is considered a dinner meal, then I'd definitely opt for Rose and Crown.

Really, it's up to you. I'd choose the meal where the food appeals more to you.

Le Cellier! 100% for sure, no doubt, hands down. It is so great and you can always find a great spot to watch Illuminations elsewhere.

I've eaten at both. Le Cellier is incredible! R & C was so-so. 6:55 pm is a long time to stretch out your meal. Plus, you need to get a preferred seating to see Illuminations well.

I highly encourage you to stay & watch Illuminations. It's one of the best experiences at WDW.

You could keep checking online to see if a later time opens up because 6:55 is a little too early unless you're going at a busy time or if the restaurant is running late and you have a long wait. We've had waits of 0 minutes to 30 minutes. People change their plans all the time so openings come available regularly.

If you don't get a patio table, you can ask to see the fireworks from the viewing area which is adjacent to the restaurant. Let your server know and they will pace your meal accordingly. Last time we ordered our desserts, went outside for IllumiNations, then went back in to eat.

We watched IllumiNations from the viewing area set aside for R&C patrons on our trip in December. I have to say that the view was really good. Below are a few of pictures from the show. :)

We'd be paying OOP but going after March 1st. Sometimes I think we shoudl try a dining plan, but it seems complicated and I suspect I'd mess it up somehow. Thanks!

I'll check the menu around the first of the month. Thank you!

We'd be there at a busy time, so I was thinking maybe they could be running behind on seating people. Le Cellier's food appeals to me more. Thanks!

I'm thinking this is probably what we should do. Le Cellier is the food I'd prefer, and the stars would have to align just right for Rose & Crown to work for viewing Illuminations. Thank you.
