Which would you choose?

My DH and I decided that we will be going back to Disney next year, most likely in April. We have 2 kids who will be 9 and 6 by the time that trip rolls around. On our previous vacations, we stayed at the Contemporary and the Poly. We preferred the Poly.

On both previous trips, we ate at the Yachtsman and LOVED the pool at the Yacht Club. We thought we'd like to stay there on a trip someday. Being the ridiculous planner I am, I am trying to decide whether, given an April trip, we'd get enough use out of the pool to choose that location over a monorail resort.

What do you think would be better - Poly or Yacht Club, or maybe some other suggestion?

I'd say there is a 99.98% chance you will be able to use the pool during April. So I would go with the Yacht Club!

I haven't stayed at either but I say try something new and then come back and tell us all!

Yacht Club.

We were so nervous the first time we didn't stay at a monorail resort. We found that we liked the convenience of walking over to EPCOT for dinner and taking the ferry to DHS that we didn't really miss the monorail at all.

SAB definitely won out over the monorail.

Haven't stayed at the YC but we loved our stay at the BC :goodvibes. The Poly is one of our favorite resorts, but we did enjoy being able to walk to Epcot on our BC stay....and SAB is a great pool :). I say give the YC a try......I don't think you'll be disappointed ;).

We go thru that decision every time we go to WDW. We love the Poly and BLT for the convenience of the monorail and being able to watch the fireworks over the castle at both resorts (with music piped in). However, we also love the Y&B Resort for SAB and the convenience of walking into the back of Epcot and the boat to HS and just the laid back atmosphere of being able to stroll around the lagoon at night to the Boardwalk and S&D. If you've never tried the Y&B, you should give it a try this time. You won't be disappointed. Everytime we've stayed at the Poly (or recently BLT) we say that's our favorite location and then next time we stay at Y&B and say THATS our favorite location. :confused3

This year we've got it all figured out. We're going for 2 weeks and staying 1 week at the Beach Club and the other at the Poly!!!:woohoo:

I know how you feel...I'm kinda addicted to the monorail, especially with small children. When DH and I went to the Yachtsman Steakhouse for dinner in October, we REALLY liked that area!!! Especially the pool!! When our youngest two are a little older and we don't need strollers anymore, we are certainly going to the Beach/Yacht Club. It's way too easy to push that stroller onto the monorail....plus, we spend LOTS of time at the MK. As far as the weather goes, ya never know in FL. We lived in Orlando for 5 years...nights can be really cool in April and days can be hot OR they could be a little cool. I would think that your children wouldn't mind if the water was a little cold. Most kids are just happy to go swimming. I think you will have a blast at the Yacht Club....and it's something different.

Happy Planning!

Well I just checked when I can go based on the school calendar and it is the second half of April so that might bring some warmer weather. Hmmm, so many choices to consider. :rotfl:

Which parks do you spend most of your time at? If it is MK or AK I would stay at the Poly, as the bus service from the boardwalk area is shared, and not the best. If you love Epcot or the Disney Studios the most, go with the Yacht Club.

I love the yacht club! It is a little quieter there, but the location is wonderful! It has a great atmosphere and great restaurants too. I would stay again in a heartbeat!

This is what we were trying to figure out at dinner last night. :rotfl:
Our two favorite parks are MK and Epcot. But, my daughter and husband LOVE roller coasters. So for that reason, we end up visiting every park - even if it is just so they can ride the one or two rides they enjoy.

We've vacationed as a family 2X at Disney and have yet to visit Downtown Disney. The YC would be closer to that, right?

Also, I know there is the walkway from YC to Epcot, but that only works later in the day, not when Epcot opens, correct? How do you get to Epcot for rope drop?

Yacht and Beach share buses, as do Swan, Dolphin & Boardwalk. But on the flip side, the Poly shares with the Contemporary. None of the Deluxe Resorts, with the exception of the Animal Kingdom Lodge, has very good bus service.

They will let you in the International Gateway around 8:45. You then walk to Future World, and there will be another rope until 9:00. At least, it used to be this way.

Well, if that's the way it works, that is another plus for the YC. Can anyone confirm from a recent visit?

The YC is a wonderful resort, definately one of my favorite, love the pool and restaurants, not to mention the short walk to Epcot and the water trams, I could go on and on :thumbsup2
