DH and I will be at the World for our anniversary in October. The trip is primarily about F&W and MNSSHP, so we are really only planning to do one really nice TS during our trip.

DH doesn't do fish, and loves all things steak. I really enjoy steak, but LOVE a good fish entree. We will be staying at BC/YC, and will have our own vehicle so resort transport is not an option no matter where we go.

We are trying to decide amongst three signatures:

Citricos
Flying Fish
Yachtsman Steakhouse

Which would you choose and why? TIA!!

If you love fish, and he loves steak, I think the best option is California Grill. The fish entrees and sushi are excellent, and many people rave about the filet there, but I must admit, it has been 10 years since I have ordered it since I cannot pry myself away from the fish selections like halibut or snapper.

Sorry that I went outside the boundaries of your poll, but none of the other options moved me given your criteria. But all things being equal, of the options on your list, I would chose Citricos.

Go ahead and make a ressie at the place of your chosing. But also, keep an eye out for the special "guest chef" dinners as they are posted to the F&W page. As you probably know, Disney brings in big time chefs to host dinners at the better restaurants. Usually one a week, or thereabouts. One of those dinners might make a really special anniversary dinner, but would cost you more than the price of a signature. So if you do one of those, you would probably want to cancel whatever ressie you make now.

I chose Citricos because out of these 3, it's the only one where you might be able to enjoy a quiet dinner. Flying Fish is my favorite of the WDW signatures but it's not quiet. Yachtsman does not impress me; we've dined here 5-6 times and it's consistently average.

Citricos will definitely feel more upscale than the others, food and service here has always been very good.

I chose Citricos in your poll, but agree with JimmyV that the California Grill might be a better choice.

I agree 100% with Pakey. If you are looking for something quieter and more romantic, out of these 3, I would go with Citricos (Jiko @ AKL would be another great option for you both). If you are looking for the best food, Flying Fish wins it for me. If you are paying OOP, Shula's has the best steaks on property. They also offer some fish dishes (never tried one so I could't tell you how it is) and have a quiet and romantic atmosphere.

I voted for Citricos. However, I realize that my comments could have done nothing but make things more confusing for you. Enjoy! :thumbsup2

Jiko is probably one of our two favourite restaurants at WDW. DH and I always go there for a nice romantic dinner when we are in the World. But it's not really a steak and seafood place. We've never had anything there that we didn't just love.

I was trying to make a similar decision for our anniversary dinner - choosing between FF or YSH. Ultimately we booked FF but now I'm having second thoughts after reading some other threads about it being loud in there - doesn't necessarily seem romantic. Still have 5.5 months to change our mind I suppose:lmao:. We did YSH on our anniversary last year and I really enjoyed it but I'd like to try someplace different this year.

I voted for Flying Fish (though I see I am in the minority on this!). Among other things, I think it would be nice to take a stroll at World Showcase before or after dinner, and it is a nice walk from the Boardwalk.

I voted for Yachtsman. I've dined there on many occasions and enjoyed it every time. Mind you, I'm always there with my kids and not for a romantic dinner, but I have always been impressed with the service and the food. I do agree with some others who posted that California Grill would also be a good choice for you.

Citricos would probably be the best. Yachtsman has great food but reminds me of my great grandfathers house or something. Flying Fish I hear is good but a busy, noisy kind of place...

Thanks everyone for your opinions. I totally agree with the comments about Cali Grill and Jiko, and we dearly love both of those restaurants. DH thought the filet at Cali Grill was only so-so, but really liked the Jiko filet. I love the Cali Grill sushi and just about everything at Jiko. Even though we really enjoy both of those restaurants (Jiko is probably our fave also), we really want to try someplace new for this ressie, henceforth the three choices I mentioned.

I didn't realize FF was super-noisy so thanks for that info. Good idea on the special chef dinners. I've been planning to attend one of those and it never dawned on me that we might be able to do it on our anniversary. What a wonderful way to celebrate!

Citricos is a really nice dining spot, especially if you can get a reservation during the wishes fireworks..however, if your husband loves steak, the yachtsman (as well as shula's) are hands down two of the best restaurants there for steaks
