which would you buy?

Ok folks... got a dilemma here.

Hubby saw a decent 150 pt contract out there for VWL, but for the same price we can get 200 pts at OKW. Which would you buy?

Now, I now most of you would say buy where you want to stay. Well, we would like to stay at both, and we would be going in Early December, hence my personal strife on this.

I just don't know what to do...

Btw, addonitis is bad!!!

If you want to go the beginning of Dec. and stay at VWL, buy at VWL. I've been wait listed for the last three years for that time frame for a studio at VWL and have never gotten a single night. VWL has so few rooms and as you know, the beginning of Dec. is prime DVC season.

I would buy VWL. It is the smallest DVC resort at WDW, and OKW is the second largest. The 11-mo home resort advantage would probably be more useful at VWL than OKW.

However, if you're interested in a GV, go with OKW (as VWL doesn't have them).

I don't think its ever a good idea to panic. There will always be other contracts. I think you could get more mileage out of OKW especially at Christmas, but that is no good if you don't care for the resort.

My only regret after purchasing BWV was that I wish I would have paid OKW more attention because of the GV pt. charts. HOWEVER, OKW would have been totally wrong for us because we already had a sentimental connection to BWV!

What is most important to you?

OKW
Bigger Rooms
Cheaper Points
Grand Villas
Non-hotel feel
2 beds in studio

VWL
Perfect for Christmas!
Great MK Access
Hotel Feel
bed and sofa in studio

As much as I love VWL (the reason why I bought in), I'm all about the number of points. I'm not to picky on which DVC resort I stay in they all have their good and bad. I would get more interested in either being able to go more often or get bigger rooms w/ the extra 50 points. Studios are nice, but anytime I can bump that up to a 1 bedroom - sweet! And I love to be able to take family and friends so for me the extra 50 points for the same price would be worth having to attempt a wait list for VWL. If I don't get it... I can always go visit the resort. :-)

I wasn't panicking, just trying to decide and having a hard time.

Ultimately we decided to put an offer on 150 pts at VWL. We loved the lodge at Christmas which was the tipping point for us.

The owners accepted our offer and now it is time to wait for ROFR. I am very excited! But now I have to get Caskbill's upgrade to his tracker tool! hahaha

hubby and I are considering this our anniversary present to each other!

OKW has lowest points per night so they go further, rooms are bigger too.
But it really comes down to a very personal choice. Good luck and enjoy planning.

Sorry I said panicked.
Congratulations! I think its always best to go with your heart on DVC.

YOU MADE THE RIGHT DECISION!!!

Here's some pixie dust for ROFR! pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust:

Thanks for the pixie dust! I just faxed the contract back in- I am so excited!!!

What are the chances we can actually get an early Dec trip planned for this year? I think we would take a studio or 1bd anywhere, but preferably not SSR. We didn't care for that one.

Do you happen to have pics of VWL @ Christmas? I've heard it is pretty then, and while I'm not sure if it would be my cup of tea ALL the time I am curious about the holiday decor.

All this depends on the contract and the amount per point you agreed to. Disney buys back more BCV and VWL points than they do other resort points. Why do they do that? Because they can turn around and resell those points at a big markup without any effort. There is always a waitlist for these two sold out resorts.

We visited there last Christmas. It is indeed beautiful during Christmas. I think it will be many, many Christmases before you tire of the decorations. I hope you can get in for this Christmas!

Good luck with the ROFR process - hope it goes by quickly for you.

P.S. I smile everytime I see your screen name - love it (not sure why, lol).

Screen name comes from my height, or lack there of! hahaha
I am 4'11" and the pots comes from my last name (stole that from my brother who went by Potsy for the longest time!)

Thanks for all the warm wishes on passing ROFR. We found out they submitted it to ROFR yesterday, now it is just waiting! I will let everyone know when we pass or fail!

As for Christmas, it is gorgeous there at Christmas! We took my mother in law there back in 2001 for 10 days and it was amazing! I don't have any pics because that was well before we went digital, but we love it at that time of year! absolutely amazing!
