I moved our trip due to flight prices. I went ahead and bit the bullet and pd $146 a ticket to MCO from MDW March 17. The flight home I have not committed to-our choices.

MCO to MDW Southwest $146X4 $626 with taxes (nonstop)

MCO to MDW Airtran $99x4 $428 with taxes (nonstop)

Car rental alamo $256 if I move the car rental 1/2 hour it is $61 more --for that 1/2 hour up to 12 more hours rented that day--it would be $61 more

Would you roll the dice that airtran will not change the flight (they are being bought out by SWA) and buy airtran or fly SWA. We will probably only have 2 pieces luggage. Thanks

PS We wanted to fly Sat 19 to Sat 26 the flight we would like are over $200 a piece each way I do not have to go the mouse that bad. I was watching the threads here and watching the flights. You shared spring break prices do not normally come down they only raise from the starting day and that has been true so far.

I"m not sure what your car rental comment has to do with your question about Airtran vs Southwest.

I'd book Airtran for the fare savings in a heartbeat. I wouldn't pay for seats at this time, either. I'd wait to see if the price dropped on Airtran as they have frequent sales and there is a great chance the price WILL decrease between now and March. I'd get a credit for the decrease and use it to pay for seat assignments at that point.
